I don't think people should abuse animals and I support laws against their maltreatment.
I have nothing against vegetarians. It's a lifestyle choice that people may enjoy if they choose. But what they choose to do is their choice. Their choice doesn't have to be my choice. In the same vein, I think it was dispicable that the meat industry sued Winfra Oprey for her views on meat.
I have a good friend that is a cold vegan. I will support his right to be cold vegan. But he's not sanctimonious about it. For him, it's not about the animals. It's he and his wife believe that it's a healthier lifestyle choice. He serves plenty of meat for his guests. He and his wife just don't eat it. In fact, I think they just eat raw vegetables, etc.
My brother is a martial arts instructor who is MOSTLY vegetarian. He eats meat twice a month. Again, it's not about the animals. He believes it's a healthier life choice. But he says his body needs meat, but not a whole lot of it. So he keeps it to a minimum.
His yoga insructor says, "Too many people become vegetarians for the wrong reasons and become sick doing so. Their bodies are accustomed to meat. It's better to eat meat and not be sick than to be vegetarian and be sick."
There are days that I don't eat meat. I just decide to make some other kinds of food. It's mostly to control cholestrol.

Forcing an issue never gets you anywhere, especially when you completely dismiss the other side of the argument. |
