Any good videos / books / websits (preferred) to teach me how to dance.

would this have to do with a certain 20 year old female who likes to dance?

if so......good luck. And I mean it.
Here ya go
If thats what you want to learn to do, just watch it ten thousand times and practice it until you can do it like that guy...then add your own variations. Thats how a lot of people learn.Last edited by chipbgt; July 17th, 2004 at 10:18 PM.

Best thing would be to get one-on-one lessons. My grandmom said my dad did, and he apparently became a good dancer.

the only real way you are going to learn how to dance is to get up and atuaclly do it.

Yeah, instead of using the internet try to get some 1on1 lessons with a professional dancer.
This way you will learn how to dance correctly. You will have to spend money though.
But I guess this is the most efficient way to learn how to really dance. Fastest too (?)

To learn to dance like in that video, you don't need one on one instruction. There's group dance classes available that aren't too expensive. For moves like in that video, you'd probably be really happy if you took a "hip-hop dance" class. The moves you'll learn will probably be pretty whitebread.
For what resembles locking, if you want to learn moves like that Fred "Rerun" Berry stuff that he starts out with, well, you probably won't find it in any dance classes. The moves that guy pulls out are really old, which doesn't mean bad. I just don't think you'll find instruction on it. Personally, I think it's cool, but, like...as a throw-back.
The best pop-lockin' and breakin' I think you can get on tape is from these videos called "Radiotron." It isn't instruction, but you can learn from emulation. It features the best modern b-boys and girls, and on some of the videos there are old school crews perform as special guests. THE most incredible guy was in those old breakin' movies. "Breakin'" and "Electric Boogaloo" -- his name is Animation.
Now, you could learn new pop-lock stuff from real b-boys, but chances are they'll write you off as a herb.

I used to think I couldn't dance, either.... Until I hit the dance floor, that is.

But seriously - I would screw the dance lessons and just hit the dance floor. Find the beat, loosen up and have fun. If you're tense, or you're thinking about whether or not you're doing it right when you're out there - then it ain't gonna happen.
If it's to impress this girl - just tell her that you can't dance. She'll more than likely get a kick out of showing you how it's done.

Watch Soul Train. If that's too far out, just get some videos and have the pause in hand. There are dance videos/DVDs.
