| One step closer to Big Brother Black boxes in all cars. Quote: |
In Massachusetts, crash data have been used to bolster evidence in several prosecutions.
| So even if it's not your fault, if you were speeding, you're in deep doo-doo.
This will help the plaintiff attorneys more than anyone else.

While I know this can be a bad thing, I can see how this could help me if the other driver was at fault. Unfortuantely this wont detect someone yakking on their cell phone, reading the paper, applying makeup, searching for a dropped cigarette or fiddling with the kids in the back seat.
If your driving well over the speed limit and someone comes out of no where and hits you, then you should be at fault, at least to some degree. Speed limits exist not only to generate an income but also to protect us from.

I can't believe I missed that thread.
I know BMWs have GPS built-in. That can be used to record speed. And for the record, I believe that anyone doing 3 times the speed limit is insane and deserves to be punished. But what about 10MPH over? If you're doing 75MPH on the highway and some idiot on a cell phone swerves into your lane as you pass him, who are they going to blame? If they can't prove he was on the cell phone and they can prove you were speeding, it ain't gonna be pretty for you.
What about when all cars come standard with GPS? How about government tracking of all vehicles? Add to that black boxes and soon you're only one step from the final invasion, audio and video recording inside the car. How tough would it be to stick a tiny camera in the dash and record everything you do?
All in the name of safety, of course. |

I knew a kid in town who was drunk and wrecked his 2001 or so Monte Carlo. It deployed the airbag, thereby setting off onstar, who notified the police, who got there just in time to write him a DUI and MIP, lol
In a situation like that I can kind of understand, butthat doesn't mean I like it anymore. I wonder if it's against the law to disable the box? |

Big Brother's already here
Now it's just a matter of time til it's all properly perfected, placed, and tweaked. RFIDs, black boxes, VideoIQ pattern-predicting motion detection, etc., etc., ad nauseum. |

well all of big brothers control mechanisms come in under some good guise....
either safety (rfid so the gun wont shoot except for the owner)
or convenience ("smart pass" so you can speed thru the toll booths ) and so big bro can track you
catching criminals....note the number of crooks caught on cameras lately.....like the dude who abducted the girl from the car wash etc
eventually big brothers wet dream is the cashless society where everyone has an id number on their person...no, not a card, lol..an implant (after all, cards can be stolen, borrowed, lost)
Of course in this cashless society...if big bro says you cant buy or sell...sorry, you cant buy or sell.
But didnt the bible tell us already that this was coming??
of course it did....
Revelation 13:16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
'tis interesting that the best 2 places for the RFID implants...like many peeps already have, are in the hand and forehead, lol. (thin skin)

AAA, the nation's largest auto club, would support requiring black boxes only if protections were in place to ensure the data are used just for safety research and can't be traced to specific drivers, spokesman Mantill Williams said.
| That doesn't really sound that bad. I would imagine that the last thing AAA wants is for people to start dropping their memberships because AAA supported something so silly. |
