    I'd Be Moving..

Give me snow and ice and cold.. But if I had to come home to devastation time after time after time, I don't think I could handle that.

One out of every few years do they have hurricane season remotely this bad. I would love to live down there for 50 fantastic weeks out of the year, and have 2 like this.

Nothing personal but I'm glad you and others like you are not moving to Florida anytime soon. And I've heard many people say they'd rather fight the ice and cold. All I have to say to them is, "Don't let the door hit you on the way out."

Thats ok we have no problem with others like you staying in FL

Regardless of the hurricanes you couldnt' pay me to live in FL
I tend to enjoy a change of seasons, and not just summer and rainy season.

I agree with vass. Living in a place where I could possibly swim on Christmas day doesnt sound right
    Good job, friend-of-friends!

I'd live there for a few months; maybe a year, but I would get tired of it. As stated by others, I like the 4 seasons (not the music group) which is why I plan on staying in Pennsylvania.

virginia suits me fine....4 seasons....not much in the way of hurricanes/earthquakes....though they did get some flooding way up north from Charley

    mountains/beaches

we got real dirt up here (not sand)

though I admit..for the outdoor sportsmen in me I could do without winter altogether, lol

we DO get some killer humidity though....notice the PGA golf tour...they travel everywhere....when they come to VA and NC they are dying cuz of the humidity...lots of green vegetation/trees to hold the moisture I suppose...but one adapts.....

I made my mind up earlier this year to NOT use the air conditioner at all....cuz I didnt want to be a spoiled American brat....so I used no AC in the house and the one in the car is broken for a few years anyway, lol....

No worries! I'd probably saw my left arm off first.

I lived in a Florida town once where most of the people were actually from Florida (Crestview). Most of the rest were military. All in all, I found it one of the most hospitable places I've ever lived. But I would never want to live there permanently.

Maybe ivan will stay south and then swing up and hit Louisiana, mississippi area. Not that i would wish that uppon any state but i think that FL only needs 2 hurricanes in one year.

Or maybe Texas will get hit. Ya never know with a hurricane though.

My fiancee and I are considering the central coast of California, or Hawaii. I really, really like Christmas in Hawaii.

Nobody with the sense God gave the common dog believes they'll ever be honestly loved.
What a depressing and nihilistic statement.

I lived in Boca Raton, FL for two years - one of the most beautiful cities I've ever lived in. Many parts of Florida are green, clean, and just plain nice. BUT - the humidity sucks (never could take a shower and ever feel quite clean), the Palmetto bugs scared the crap outta my wife (imagine turning the light on in the early morning only to find a 2-3 inch giant cockroach-looking thing sitting in the middle of your room), and when it rains...nothing cools off, in fact it seems to get even hotter. It was pretty, and I'll visit FL again - but never to live. The Keys are awesome - I recommend taking a drive down there and do some snorkling and have some delicious crab.

It's only depressing if you think it's true.

People are attached to there home reguardless of the disasters or events that may occur. This is no different that people that live in flood plains, earthquake faults, tornado areas, drought stricken lands, etc... They will defend it, rebuild it if necessary and continue to live there life there no matter what. This is part of our natural survival instincts.
