| Analysis and Bush Differ on Deficit
What do you know, what Bush says differs from the facts. Who woulda thought that?
Using the most optimistic revenue and growth figures and most conservative spending figures the CBO says it would still be unlikely for Bush to acheive his promise to reduce the federal budget deficit by half within five years. Full Story

"Facts"? didn't the CBO just overestimated the deficit by 55 billion just several months ago. Estimations, projection, and speculation do not consitute "facts" in my book. John Kerry also said he would cut the deficit in half in 5 years, what's the CBO analysis of Kerry's "plan"

Get Kerry elected and they'll analyze it. |

Since you brought it up, I'd have thought you'd be willing to analyze the situation with the deficit, but as with so many other issues, you'd rather just critize without providing proof that there is a better plan available.
The deficit is too high, I don't disagree with that, but I'm not willing to adopt the "anything is better" approach either.

The CBO's analysis, by the way, says that even if all troops are withdrawn from Afghanistan and Iraq the deficit won't meet Bush's target. FTM, as I recall, the CBO's earlier estimate of the deficit was far higher than Bush's. The actual result was a little less, but still far closer to the truth than Bush's. The CBO is a non-partisan office of Congress. What you're objecting to is the result, and pretending that you're mistrusting the source.

Since the deficit on the date we're talking about is still 5 years away, I'm pretty sure I'm not objecting to the "result"
CBO projections and estimate do not constitute "facts" |
