| Music: The Universal Drug
Screw politics. Let's talk about music.
I love it. I can have the worst day, come home absolutely in the worst mood and either want to go to bed or just throw myself in front of a bus. But you won't catch me reaching for a bottle, or a bag of pot - or a bag of Doritos, as far as that's concerned. I'll listen to music. And I can play music that matches my mood, or something that makes me happy, or a little of both. But it never fails.. it never has.
If I'm feeling worthless, music will make me feel like I can take control of the world. If I'm too hyped up, music will slow me down and send me into a euphoric state. It doesn't matter how I'm feeling - the music knows what to do.
Music is the only thing that will always be there. It was the one thing that always HAS been there. If music as a whole was abolished, I'd probably survive for a few weeks and then I'd probably die off.
Maybe I'm crazy - but don't a lot of you feel the same way?
Anyway.. Yes, Go music.

You and I were meant to be together (Out, we can still have sleepovers if you want).
If the tv isn't on (which it is rarely), music is playing. My playlist is 144 songs long and that's only for my mainstream music...I have other playlists divided by genre I've saved as well, depending on my mood. During basic training, I had my sister print out and send me lyrics - that was my favorite past time. Almost every night before bed, I would pick out a few songs and read them before I went to sleep.
Today in fact, I've downloaded 14 mp3s, 2 music videos and am in the process of making a cd

The amount of time I spend watching TV is miniscule compared to how much music I listen to. Music is constantly blaring in my car, regardless of whether or not there's a passenger. |

I seriously think that music is one of the most powerful non-chemical influences we've got... I remember my mom had (and still has) a similar passion for music. With all five of her kids, she would rock them to sleep with music blaring in the background. She says it was the best method to send any of us to sleep.
I remember she would get into absolutely nasty moods... Hormones, or something. It would be at a point near the end of the week where you wouldn't dare ask her for anything... Being in the same room with her for any extended period of time was a risky thing to do. But the one thing that would always send her back into a normal state and actually put her into a good mood was music. |

well, listening to music all the time supposedly increases your cognitive ability slightly, because even when you are listening you're processing information... kind of like exercising your brain =).
I enjoy listening to music but I wouldn't go as far to call it a "drug."
I cant really recall listening to music ever really making me feel better. But sometimes it does seem to make me more relaxed. (which seems kind of odd considering i normally listen to hard rock/ metal). I'm not sure its the "music" persay doing this as much as it is, when I'm listening to music im not focusing on as much as other stuff, thus its more a distraction that ends up having positive effects in the cosmic scheme of things. |

| Oh I can...all the time. Music changes my mood...makes me sad or motivated or just back to my normal, positive self. |

Well listening is one thing but playing is yet another.Nothing like pouring all your emotions into a few minutes of guitar.
But yes music is the antidrug
