Why don't you just move there? You seem to be a snow bird anyway.

hahaha, naw wart, far from it, its just that i know the colleges around here, and i know the people at them, so it doesnt really make sense to go all the way across the country and not know anyone, or the cities. Ill be quite glad to get far away from "mommy and daddy"

1) There's no US Marine Corps snowboarding team.
2) Even if there was one, they don't allow Canadian citizens to join the US military.

My parents lived in Edmonton for a brief time before I was born.
They don't speak of the experience. But then again, my parents don't speak of most experiences. They think that not saying a word about anything makes people like me think, "Holy crap - something crazy must have happened." ... But it's just them, trying to add cachet to their image.

The people are good. The climate is way to cold for human habitation. There's a block heater plug-in for every car, every where you go. The malls are kept cool in the winter as lots of folks go shopping in ski clothing. Many times in the winter you wake up to reports of how long it will take skin to freeze. Government buildings empty out as soon as the temp hits -32c. It was so cold one winter’s night, none of my room mates nor I, would go to the store for sour cream to put on our perogies. The store was only 50 paces away @ -50c + wind chill factor lowering it to -70c. Solved the no sour cream dilemma that cold winter’s night. Used Miracle Whip instead. I still use Miracle Whip on perogies to this day.
One good thing about it though. It’s close to:
Mt. Norquay
Banff
Fortress Mountain
Sunshine Mountain
Lake Louise
Marmot Basin
And only 7 hours to Whistler
I lived in Edmonton for 3 winters, skiing all the way. 1981 to 1984.
Hey! Hungry! Salivating yet?
Cheers!

I don't intend on being here for much longer. I'm living here now because it's cheap. There's no way I could live like this in BC or even Alberta.

I guess we pay for the good weather.
Beer at the bar, $4.50
Get a maid for $300.00 per month
4 liter jug of 2%, $3.50
100% whole weat bread, $1.49
Pack of cig's, 25's, $10.25
gas at $0.98 per liter
It isn't that bad, is it? The economy is pretty good at the moment. Construction trade jobs are plentifull right now and have been for a couple of years.
Cheers!
