I just read an article for one of my classes that argued that investing has become the new mass culture. It interested me somewhat, so I thought I'd post a poll here. Simple yes or no answers will suffice.

IMO, investing is the only way those workers of today will survive in retirement. I invested a portion of my income too late in my work life to do any real good, but what there is of it now is extremely helpful.
10% of the gross income (budgeted for) over a normal work life of 25 ~ 30 years will create options after retirement that the normal worker normally only dreams about.
My income from investments only, over about the final 10 years of my work is almost $1000.00/month. The guy who got me to realize this potential had been doing this for nearly 20 years prior to me..now, both of us are retired and his retirement income exceeds his work monthly income at the time of his retirement by nearly twice! |

By investing early in your life you have a chance to make some real money as opposed to "just enough to live". You may even become rich if your carefull and lucky enough.

I started investing at 22. I am about break even now, but I am betting on the stock market being mush better in the next ten to twenty years.

I do some investing, but nothing big. I'm still sort of learning how the system works.
Good trick learned early on is to get out of stocks when the interest rates are high, and put the money into bonds. When everybody got shook up about the economy collapsing, I was making a guaranteed rate of something like 8% anually for a 5 year period.
Yay investing

I've rigourously invested since I was a youngster under the firm and consistent guidance of my father, an FCSI. .
