| Airline Security - Is there a solution?
I'd like to hear opinions on what could be done to solve the global airline security problem. From guns going missing in the U.S. to Canada's missing uniform parts to France's missing explosives -- global airline security is a mess.
But, what could possibly be done to fix the problems? Is there even a solution out there that would ensure security, as well as efficiency for travellers? Personally - no quick solution comes to mind.
What do you think?

The only thing that would ensure the safety of the PASSENGERS from a terrorist point of view would be to ARM all of the passengers, but that would bring up other problems.

That would never happen in a million years - for a multitude of good reasons. |

we could stap everyone to their seat so they cant move the whole flight.
either way any type of security you set up, there will always be a flaw or hole. I see humans as the main problem with secuirty, but i dont think we will ever get to the point where we can say its 100% secure. |

Well, despite being an obvious target, El Al hasn't had any problems in years. Why not look at their procedures?

Theo, You forget that the USA would never allow "racially profileing" people. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/2097352.stm
Also for us to have armed guards at the ticket counters, to check each person instead of looking for weapons, and to have 2 undercover guards on each plane as opposed to 1 sky marshal every 30 flights, would cost too much.
IE its cheaper for us to allow the chance of another 911 than to pay for the extra security. |

El Al boards people in the US and has to follow US law. Check what they do here. |

Well the only thing that really needs done to prevent another 9/11 is to make sure the cockpit door is securely closed and will not open for any terrorist (ie. bulletproof, that stuff). Other than that, another 9/11 probably wont happen. People still remember the last 9/11, and wouldnt just sit around for an airline hijacking, they will most likely fight back, knowing (or at least thinking) that they will all die anyways. |
