Hey, this is directed to business owners. What is the average profit margin on sales? Like, you buy an item from the supplier for $1.00 and sell it for $1.66 gives you $0.66 profit, thus 66%.
What is the normal profit margin? |

What kind of business are we talking abuot?
For example, the profit margin on a soda at McDonald's is about 600-800%
Coffee at your loval convience store is usually keystoned, or 100%
Loss leaders, like double cheesburgers at McDonalds are like -30%.
As far as computers, 15% is usually waht you get away with.

Well, as a standard retail business selling comic books, games, models, and other random things, we typically made a 40% profit on items. That is retail price was 140% of wholesale, not wholesale was 40% off retail. Because those are different numbers. |

I'm just asking because my family owns a deli, and just wanted to know whether their prices were comparable. They usually sell at 166% |

hmm, don't know about food sales as much (unless your doing prepared food, i.e. sandwiches etc.)
sell at what the market will pay.
