How to publish a book?
Anybody have any information on this?
I am 50% through my book, Three Rooms in Hell, and eventually want to get it published.
(it's fiction, BTW)

Yeah, Willy's got a point. When was the last time you read a book written by a high schooler?

Who knows - he could become the Britney Spears of Literature - start a teen revolution through literature just like Britney S, Jessica S, Hilary Duff, and others did through music.

March 27th, 2005, 10:47 AM #9I work entirely in the nonfiction sector, but I will agree with Willy concerning fiction. Fiction is a tough market, and you will need the right connections to have your work published. You can still send your draft to various publishers for consideration, but expect to go through several before hearing anything positive.Don't bother. You're under 30 and trying to write fiction. March 27th, 2005, 11:37 AM #11Well, yeah, but then again, that's what it's all about for any creative person trying to get something published. It's okay.

When you walk into the first room, you become all that you have ever wanted. Maybe you always wanted to be that superstar, or maybe you wanted to be that high-class lawyer. You enter this room, and the people in it recognize you as that figure, they are all congratulating you for your accomplishment. If you decide, to walk through that room rather than stay and continue to be given credit and congratulations, you walk through the door to the second room.
When you open the door to the second, and walk through you walk into you greatest sexual desire. You lust will over take you, maybe you wanted to twins to give themselves to you, and now they are. Or maybe you wanted the feeling of romantic ecstasy, you now have it. Do you pause, to fulfill your desires, for the people there are as real as you or me? Or do you go on to the third room?
The third room takes you to your deepest emotions of love. Maybe you had always loved a certain friend, although you haven't seen them for years, suddenly they are there. They break down in front of you, and confess exactly the love that you have always wanted to have from them. They hug you and hold you and beg you not to leave them. Everything starts to play out exactly as you had always dreamed it to... she confesses, and you take her in your arms, then drying her eyes with your kisses the scene continues to play out. Do you submit to your deepest inner feelings?
If you decide to leave, and leave on time, you can get back on your bus and take the trip back to life, and wake from your dream. But if you miss your bus, you are in hell to stay, forever.
But the devil is fair man. He allowed you the chance to leave, and now, he even allows you one one-minute phone call...
Thanks for all the info... hmm... I realiazed that I know a publisher in person, through my club, probably goto her first.

Girl, ineveitably, misses the bus.
Girl calls guy for one minute.
Boy goes to field to challange god, and commit suicide to enter hell and be with girl.
God fights boy, and kills boy so that boy goes to heaven to forever be apart from girl.
Boy, after much work sneaks through god's room, and takes the back door to hell.

no offense but it sounds a lot like malcom in the middle on crack.

It isn't so much the connections that you need to make, but the life experiences, style and vocabulary that comes with age. Older individuals have a way of telling a story that takes time to develop. That is why I'm saying that your book won't get published.
In the non-fiction category it isn't so much of a concern because you're dealing with raw knowledge, theories and ideas. Fiction, however, is a different beast altogether. It is an art-form that develops with age, as it depends on creativity, method of expression and experiences that come with age.
If you're set on submitting your book, be prepared to be turned down everywhere. Instead, if they offer suggestions, take them to heart. Use them to improve your ideas, your method. Your style will evolve as you age, so don't be too concerned about overly harsh stylistic suggestions. The difficulty is to try and teach the multitude that something can be true and untrue at the same time. -- Arthur Schopenhauer

seems to have no meaning and a lot of running around with open ends... basically no plot and a waste of time frankly.
