| HR418 "The Real ID act" info?
anyone watching this? It was sort of snuck through the House.....and my understanding is that it was thrown onto another bill (snuck through, lol) in the senate...I was under the impression they have already debated it in the Senate
but I havent heard what happened...does anyone know??
I suppose it would now be [H.R.418.RFS] Referred to Senate Committee after being Received from House http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/.../~c109Rwgdsu::
anyone know what the status is?

well we COULD have made calls to senators etc but they sort of snuck it through....
the whole thing of throwing it on the bill with these other things is sort of "dirty pool"....they threw it on with legislation about finishing a security fence in SanDiego etc etc...also it was snuck through the house before anyone ever heard about it, lol....went through using some provision for voting that was supposed to be only used for "non controversial" things
Hitler would have loved to have a national biometric ID...would have made his job SO much easier
my understanding is that some states have already rejected it (Montana).
hehe..hmm, whats the weather like in Montana?? lol
my understanding is that this will also be tied into the tracking of who is a gun owner and who isnt etc

To establish and rapidly implement regulations for State driver's license and identification document security standards, to prevent terrorists from abusing the asylum laws of the United States, to unify terrorism-related grounds for inadmissibility and removal, and to ensure expeditious construction of the San Diego border fence. | Such a comical way to do politics.
Shouldn't the government be acting on the behalf of the people instead of hiding things for their own good? Seems to be some trust issues.
Cheers! |

2nd link is the best one anyway
ok...that page is hard to link to..the links work for a few minutes then quit, lol http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/.../~c109A5Ewye::
the point that kills me is that a national ID is a huge serious thing....it should be intensely debated by itself....but here it is thrown in for political reasons with other matters.....
and this is how plenty of junk gets passed....all by compromise....the people feel they have to vote for the overall bill and the junk part gets a free ride.
anyway, it was almost destined to pass to continue us on Bushs steadfast road to tyranny
the key to figuring out Bush is easy now...just follow Hitlers moves...come into office, have a "false flag" terror event to stir peoples emotions, invade other countries, pass all sorts of draconian laws
so far Bush is tit for tat with Hitler
of course the REALLY SAD thing is than the large majority of Americans have never heard of this bill nor are they interested....they are too busy worrying about Micheal Jackson or American Idol or steroids in baseball....they are too busy following the magicians wand and they missed what he was doing with the other hand

I thought so as well. I rarely read Ars Technica editorials, but the headline attracted my attention when sorting through today's RSS news listings. |
