The vatican announced that the pope is dead.
Im polish, you have no clue whats going on here. The entire country is weeping, they cancelled all the soccer games, bells are ringing. There wont be another pope like John Paul II.
May he finally rest after a long struggle.
All believers and non believers pray, so that he may find eternal peace.

i'm not catholic, but i remember this mans election to be pope very well. In this bitterly devided lil clump of mud, some saw the demise of his two predecessors in the same year as food for their jingoism.............i've never really been that way inclined...........instead.........and as always, i was rooting for the underdog, the outsider...... a none italian modern day pope. and he won the election. since then i've caught glimpses of him as he toured the world, i don't and won't pretend to understand any of the theology that goes with being pope, but he seemed like on ok guy his smile was as warm as could be, and he spoke just about every language under the sun...........very intelligent man.
so as with anyone who's suffering physically, i'm glad that this man's suffering has ended. i think he will be remembered mostly fondly for a long time by a great many people of all creeds and colours.............. |

well said doddsy well said. he was a very remarkable man and i personally think that the next pope is going to have a hell of a job to be 1/10th just as good as john paul II...
Leaders of all kinds of religions say he was an amazing person. All the good he did and all that he suffered through. |

I had an opportunity to attend the World Youth Day 2002 in Toronto, and stand about 10 feet away from the Papamobile. I can attest to it first hand, this man has always had an aura of goodness traveling around him. You could seriously FEEL the goodness flowing from him. |
