you bring up a good point but torque plays a role and since the sti is so "aerodynamic" it should still have a better topend

well, the 5.7L which i am assuming is the LS1 is a race motor, it is designed differently than the 4.6 which is a street motor.

the 6 speed helps too. the MR lancer has 6 gears so its top speed is now in the 160's/

if the STi wasnt so aerodynamic as it is then it wouldnt get to 150s at all.

and torque doesnt matter anymore, since at your top speed you are no way in hell going to be lower than 5252RPMs. your making HP now, not torque.

im talking about the LT1 engine in 1998 they cameout with the LSI for the camaro.
how is the 4.6l any less of a race motor then then the 5.7 thats basically saying the mustang cobras are using street engines pushing out 390 (supercharged)

....is there a mustang at LeMan? is there a Mustang at sebring? No. so its not tuned for racing. its tuned for street use.

What's that have to do with anything? Reverse the equation... Say both cars have 400 HP. 4 wheels x 100 hp per wheel = 400. 2 wheels x 200 per wheel = 400. Same thing.

Keep in mind, there's more power lost when the power has to go through two transmissions rather than one.

The new Mustang races in the SCCA...

However, it uses the 5.0 CAMMER engine.
