I know all about tires and reviews. And I know you spend a good deal of time moaning and groaning about how bad off your family is.

You are riding on 4 of the cheapest tires and they lasted 60,000 miles which is great wear for a cheap tire.

You plan on owning the truck 2 more years.

You have a very poor sense of the differences between WANTS and NEEDS.

I have a 92 Lumina I just put 4 tires on. Kelly Explorers (they are so cheap you won't even find a review for them at TireRack). $200 out the door, mounted, balanced, disposal fee, valve stems (the works).

These are the same tires I put on the car last time. That was 3 years and 48,000 hard hard miles ago. They had 4/32" of tread left on them, rode like stone wheels at times, and shimmied at low speeds. At the end of the day they were tires... and got the job done.

Once you get a handle on the difference between WANTS and NEEDS you'll do a lot less whining about things.

Gomer I advise that you stfu. You don't even know half the story.

If I can buy a much better tire for almost the same price, why would I opt for the crappier tire?

ANd how have I spent alot of time moaning and groaning about my family being bad off when this only happened this week? Explain that to me.

Also, 2 years is a long time. I can easily do 60,00 miles in two years.

Another note, slow tire wear doesn't make a tire good. Traction, resistance to hydroplaning, and mud grip are the 3 things that I see the most important for the tires on my truck. As it is, my truck hydro planes at 35mph and above. And it gets stuck very easily on dirt roads with just a small rain. I move heavy loads of stuff (full yards of dirt, rocks, and sand) with my truck, and the current tires find it very hard to grip the road with a full load being slung around the back.

Great, my spare tire has a leak in it as well.

I guess I'll have to go and find someone who can repair both tires today.

Biz I advise that you s my bfd lol.

You really can't remember all the whining you have done in this thread and others about your families' finances, their poor money decisions, and how it impacts the vehicle you get to drive? Maybe someone else will correct if I wrong. Brandon perhaps, he reads this thread.

But lets just look at the last couple days again.

Here is the funny part. When they took the spare down, I noticed that the tread was a little bit nobbier. My full size spare is a good year Wrangler tire, lol. So my truck now has 3 crappy almost warn out Continental street tires, and one brand new beginners off road tire. And to top it off, the wrangler tire has the letters colored with the Goodyear blue, so its an ugly tire on top of that.

When I got home my mom said she will buy me a new tire to match the others, although I told her to wait because the other 3 tires will need to be replaced within the next 10,000 miles.

We can't buy anything extra from the grocery stores anymore

We won't be going to the grocery (except for milk) until we empty out both of our deep freezers. Since my step-dad got laid off, we are not buying any extra expenses.

If you can get a much better tire for "almost" the same price you need to weigh that against the fact your family can't buy groceries any more. Even if "almost" is only 5% (which I doubt it is).

If you are getting stuck on dirt roads... the problem isn't your truck.

I know what makes tires good and that wear is not the only thing. But the best tires available 30 years ago are as good as the cheapest tires today... and cars and trucks rolled from point A to point B just fine.

Seeing as your family can't buy groceries anymore... the most important thing about the tires on your truck is that they get you to work and back every day.

You easily drive 30,000 miles in a year? Are you a traveling salesman? You need to seriously weigh the miles you drive against the fact your family can't buy groceries anymore.

You move heavy loads of stuff with your truck? Are you a general contractor? Do you own a landscaping company?

NEEDS and WANTS Biz... NEEDS and WANTS

I'm 17 and I know my family is on a tight budget right now, but I would like to BUY the jeep from them instead of just getting it handed to me. So not all youngin' only know needs.
If it wasn't so hard to find a job in my town without traveling a good 30 mins I would have already had it by now.

So I broke 800 miles on the horse last night. At this rate, I won't need to change the oil for another 18 months probably.
