I'm guessing it's the fuel pump ( in tank ), which fortunately for me, I have only a 4th of a tank left ( about 7.5 gallons of gas ) and the fuel pump is seperate of the sending unit, so it'll cost me about $50 for the part.
But, I have to make sure it isn't an ignition issue first....verify, verify, verify! | Is there gas in the tank? |

I should start reading posts that I respond to verbatim.
So what's the score now, SC? 99-1, me? And besides, if it's "score none" for me, why did you take a point away? Silly boy. |

Another weekend without my Talon. :/ I took care of everything myself except for the slight remaining exhaust leak that chirps when accelerating off the line. It is not going to hurt the engine to drive it (some people probably couldn't even hear it), but it annoys me beyond belief, so the car is setting in the garage for now. I have Tuesday morning set aside to hopefully get that finally resolved, then I can hopefully move on to better things.
BTW, looks like I can take back my diatribe about modern cars. I found a good buy on a SHO (way under book value), but I am not sure I want another Taurus-based car at this point. I drove a first-generation Taurus for a few months back in the day, plus I have driven my Sable wagon for over two years now. Just what I need is another Ford sedan. |

| Nope. The SHO is a second-generation model. Yamaha DOHC V6. At factory spec, it is good for a 6.6s 0-60MPH, 15s quarter mile, and 160MPH (factory certified) top end. Not bad for a family car. Despite the Yamaha V6 engine originally being designed in the mid-80's for a prototype Ford sports car (never went into production), it makes my third-generation Sable's pushrod V6 look like an ancient relic.
Actually, the SHO shares much in common at the drive train level with the never produced sports car prototype. That is how the SHO came into being. The market for the two-seat sports car dried up before it could go into production, and Ford was stuck with a contact for Yamaha to provide a large number of specialty performance engines per year. Those engines found their way into the Taurus in hopes of marketing the SHO as an affordable sport luxury to compete with early Lexus and Infinity offerings. The SHO sold well for the first few years, then dropped off as other manufacturers caught up and Taurus popularity eventually declined. |

My ford manual says that a 2000 F150 should last 250,000 miles on just regular tune ups without any part exchanges.
Maybe in a perfect world.

250,000 is definately attainable with today's cars... People just don't take care of there cars and then blame the companies. I mean sometimes a certain car is just a lemon, but comeon, my friend's dad's 95 Lincoln Town Car LITERALLY has over 390,000miles on it and it still sounds and run's almost perfectly new. He kept good care of it, when a problem arose he didn't wait to fix it, he got it done right then and there. Changed oil every 3,000miles (or less depending). Just the standard "tuneups" and it's still going to this day. |
