Good point on that. At this point I feel like I've changed out everything in the engine bay...except the engine. Alternator is one of the few things not new.
Brining it up to Advance will definately be in my best interest then. Thanks again Rob. I really appreciate it.

Thinking of various car repairs and engines, I halfway jokingly attempted to re-acquire my old 1992 Firebird. I didn't get very far, but then again, I was also trying to slide a Chevy 327 into the deal. Both the car and the engine are currently setting, not doing much good for anyone IMO.

Doubtful. Probably more like $3750 or perhaps $3500 if the lot really wants to move the car in a hurry. As to actual value, maybe not even $3000 (in my market area), though I would need see more of the car, test drive it, and hear it run.
Fuel injection has been replaced with carb - not particularly a bad thing, but something worth noting when evaluating how a car has been used. A few aspects of the interior has been tweaked. The front air dam doesn't look right, but I supose it could be the angle of pictures. The body appears to have been repainted. Look at the door striker on the driver side. It has been oversprayed.
I would suspect if the 40k miles has any meaning, it is likely in reference to an engine rebuild. Given the basic mods, there is a decent chance the car has been ran hard. |

Well he said since they put a 350 in and it's not the original engine, I could use that to talk down the price.
Yeah, I see that, and since I live in Michigan it would be nice to have fuel injection for the winter but considering I love Camaro's I'm willing to live with it.
Is there anything else that I might be able to use to talk the price down on?
Performance wise, what're the pro's and con's of this car? |

Performance is a craps shoot. It could be anything from stock to fully built. For the price, I wouldn't expect a high-performance build. I suggest you also find out how many miles the car actually has on the body and any drivetrain and suspensions components that have not been rebuilt or replaced.
A bone stock 350 is probably going to be far cry from expectations of a serious sports car, especially depending upon whatever generation 350 is being used - some turned rather abysmal horsepower for several years. If that was the case, you could end up with plenty of bark, but very little bite.
For comparison against an aftermarket third-generation GM f-body build in my market: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=227201096 |

Performance wise, what're the pro's and con's of this car? | An 88 iroc-z is a very nice ride, in stock form and plenty fast with 325 ft lbs of torque (only made around 235hp, which is still plenty). However, considering the engine swap, and the multiple models that a "350" engine could mean, I'm not sure what it's running under there.
Heres the problem, besides the high price, and not knowing it's condition:
You live in Michigan, and you are saying it would be nice to have a torque filled V8 RWD Camaro with fuel injection for winter.
Hopefully you get the point They aren't exactly even decent in snow, especially if you've never driven a light reared RWD vehicle with low end torque before.
For example, the tires i'm running under my jeep after doing some research aren't great in rain, but decent enough for daily use. However, even with only 177hp/235ftlb's of torque I have been in situations at 1/4 throttle where I would just keep spinning from a stop during rain.
Now imagine a car with roughly 100lbs more torque in snow?

I've solved my Quattro headaches, it was the gearbox that had gone to a warmer place. A big chunk of cog fell out when I emptied the oil from it, but now it is changed. Changing it made a new problem appear though. The starter engine won't work anymore. I believe it's a wiring problem and that it can be fixed though.
The car is so far only sucking money from my wallet, and has brought me little driving. Looking to have it working ok on a trackday 30th September, and then consider selling it on. |

I had pretty good luck with my Audi back in the day. There was the occasional repair, but for the most part, it took serious abuse with only moderate fuss. I suppose it could still even be on the road somewhere, though it was finally needing a clutch when it was sold. |

Do you think I could talk this down to around $2k? KBB does not go down to the year 1986, so I got the value of a 1987 GT with the 5.0 and 5SPD with 18,000 miles and got a value of around $2K in my area.
$7K just seems like a total rip off. http://www.carsdirect.com/used_cars/...3/FORD/MUSTANG
