The Ferrari Enzo's 3,000 mile maintenance costs around $6,000, and the clutch can only take 3 full throttle 0-60 runs before it needs to be replaced. A new clutch costs around $5,000. New brakes cost around $40,000.
The Mclaren F1 is even more expensive. A transmission costs $100,000. A new clutch is needed around every 3,000 to 6,000 miles wich costs $12,000. A 6,000 mile service costs $60,000.
The faster the cars get, the more expensive the repairs

And imagine how often brakes have to be done in NASCAR and other racing sports! These are essentially race cars for the street after all.... |

I have long contended serious performance is largely an aftermarket game when approached from the point of affordability, and as many supercars have demonstrated over the years, reliability.

Did a little more cleaning on the Talon front end. Whatever that garbage was, it was nearly embedded. Still a few minor spots to polish, then hit it with a new coat of wax.
The bizarre aspect is the car usually has a decent coat of wax, meaning whatever sticks to the paint usually comes off with a little polish and a few passes. Not this time, though. |

| Speed costs $. How fast do you want to go?
The lower the baseline the more it's gonna cost you. A frankenstein GSM to a turn-key GT-R and anything in-between. You may end up with a car that competes and excels in one arena but not all.
I do understand the push-back against a PS2/Xbox car that takes the wrenching fun out of it. Faster? Pop in more RAM then spoof the ECU.

I am not saying it is entirely practical or perhaps even safe, but regardless, such top-end performance is no longer even a five-digit monetary consideration. |

In a straight line I'm sure. I suppose it's in what performance arena you want to be King.
So on a lighter side of that note...
