The problem is, a lot of people aren't aware of that and end up doing damage and have no idea why it "just went out, and I don't drive the car hard at all! I do all the service when it is required!" |

Wow, that sucks. What happens if one tire wears faster than another (Bad alignment) without your knowledge?
BTW, have you gone offroading to make sure the AWD works?

| Your move BMW Great picture!
Nope, haven't gone off roading yet...though I was tempted on a couple of occasions on the way to work ( I wonder if I could make it through that ditch.... )
Got my exhaust done on my truck today...man what a difference...it's so much more quiet than it was before...bone stock exhaust- I even have a catalytic converter again! Granted, it's nothing special, but I did throw some high temp black paint on all of the areas that tend to rust out...hopefully it'll protect the vulnerable areas from rusting out too fast. |

Finally about time to get rid of the Talon. I have driven it maybe a couple of times in recent weeks (months?). Might sell, though I am kind of weighing a trade, as I am potentially willing to take a few hundred less to not have to personally deal with the annoyance of selling it.
Took a quick skim of some local listings, but there was not much that interested me. I spotted a Riviera - the eighth generation with the curved body lines - that looked somewhat interesting, but I am doubting it has the factory supercharger. There is not much HP difference, but there is pretty sizeable torque difference. |

Washed, clayed, ScratchX-ed, and waxed the Mustang this weekend. Found some weird white spots on the paint on the passenger front corner of the hood and bumper...dunno what it is and it doesn't come out easy. |

I can't say for absolute certain, but my AWD concerns may have been alleviated some in that from my reading on the Explorer forums link has me thinking that the transfer case used in my AWD system is the same used in the GMC Typhoon. If that's the case, then I'm more than pleased to have AWD. I don't need the off road capability, just like the idea of having it when the snow comes this winter. |

They both have Borg-Warner transfer cases, AFAIK within the same 4400-series product family, but different models.
Your Explorer likely has a 4404 or maybe a 4405 depending on year. The Typhoon should be a 4472. The "biggest" in the family is probably the 4484, which Hummer uses for the H1 and H2. |

There are about 6 abandonded cars on IH10 between Boerne and San ANtonio that I drive by each day going to and from work.
One of them is a eagle talon, I think only the FWD version, not AWD. An old Jimmy, a Ford Tempo, a Jeep Wrangler, and the others I don't remember.
Its like IH10 has turned into a junk yard. They havn't been towed away, but all cars do have the bright orange illegal parking stickers on their windows that the cops keep putting on them. |

Unless the person is bailing on a debt, it was rather stupid to leave any DSM on the side of road, as they can usually be parted out easily enough. Lots of demand for used DSM parts.
If the DSM is AWD, the AWD drivetrain components alone are possibly worth several hundred dollars. Even FWD parts are not exactly cheap anymore, especially if it is a 1G model.
Then again, if it is a 2G model with a 420a, being abandoned on the side of the road does not really suprise me too much. I am not being mean to n/a 2G owners, but come on, you can probably source many of the engine parts and maybe some of the drivetrain parts off a Neon. |
