Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy
Hey guys,
soon this movie be shwoing in theaters near here, and I think it is a worldwide release.
Anyone who read the book will probably wonder the same thing as me.
I'd really like to see how they "film"certain parts of the book.
I mean, a ship with an improbability drive can be imagined, but I seem to remember reading:
The Heart of Gold went from 1 side of the galaxy to the other in the nothingth of a second and during that time the ship picked up arthur and ford prefect.
Zaphod then said that's friggin impossible, on which trillian says:
Not impossible, just highly improbable.

Seriously, Douglas adams was a marvelous writer, how he could explain the most utter nonsense in such a way that it would almost sound possible, and even logical.
The logic behind The Heart of Gold is my favorite.
Powered by an infinite improbability drive, there was nothing this ship couldn't do, provided you knew exactly how improbable it was that the thing you wanted it to do, would ever happen.

Oh, yeah!
I'm looking forward to it, too. Although you're right, a lot of the hilarity of the book lies in Adam's writing style, to wit:
"The Vogon ship hung in the stratosphere exactly the way a brick wouldn't."
AAAACK!!
Enjoy a Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster before you see it, would be my guess!

Oh, he's just ASKING for this...
Yes, they are 6-3/4" high, 4-1/8" wide, and each is approx. 3/4" thick. Together, they take up about 3-1/4" of shelf space...
...exactly the way a Word file wouldn't...

doesn't look good, but what people have to keep in mind, is how adams wanted every version of hhgttg to be different, even copies of the same. i think too many people are going to go expecting a movie version of the book, when it will be an entity of itself. it even has a new character.

Ahh damnit, I knew this was gonna happen.

No matter, it should be interesting to see anyways.
I already knew that HHGTTG was one of those books where the movie never can be as good as the book is being told.

Well, I was going to start this thread, but you beat me to it.

Yeah, the movie comes out on April 29th.
Here's the official site:

To bad Douglas Adams isn't around to see the completion of the film.

Can't wait for the movie, apart from the fact that my friend worked on the set, I have the complete BBC radio series on 8 CD's and the BBC TV show on DVD.. Plus my home network is called Babel Fish and all of my machines are based on the characters i.e the wifes machine is called trillian.

Wombat,
is there anyway that I could get a "backup" of that dvd or those 8cd's?? I never got the chance to record the series and I never did see it, altho I really wanted too, but I was still so young then.

The BBC reviewer wasn't entirely enthusiastic...
In judging a two-person singing contest, never award the prize to the second soprano having heard only the first.

I really want to see this movie, but I should really finish the book first. My school work has been taking up a huge portion of my time (I'm having to churn out a major test or two every week) and I havn't had time to read it.
Maybe when I finish this test I'll get right on it.

It's too bad that this movie seems to be similar to, but not completely unlike, an unfunny movie. I still plan to see it when released.
