We had a short rifle safety session for our "hunter's safety" class in middle school, though it never involved anything hands-on.
There's certainly nothing wrong, in my opinion, with teaching kids that are interested in firearms how to handle firearms properly.
I don't know if I'd go so far as to say that it should be mandatory, however. It should be the student's choice, I believe. |

the only reason why i think it is being criticized is because paranoid people think that school shooting would become more deadly if the pople who did that knew how to actually be proficient with a gun.
well i think that isn't true
wish i had classes like that...i can only go to the shooting range when my dad can take me
but when i do go i always bust out the good stuff to shoot

Jeez, we're lucky to even have archery teams in Cali schools. |

My uncle showed me how to use one of his handguns when I was around 11. I don't remember the gun or how much it weighed. I know I got all 6 shots on the bullseye though. |

I had at least three official gun safety courses growing up.
First one was Cub Scouts. More teaching in this one than you think. We had guest teachers from the poilice and veterans assc. Learned a lot of basics.
Second one was a state hunting course. Basic stuff, but lots of repitition. First time I was introduced to black powder weapons.
Third one is the one you will probably just not beleive. I am not making this one up, it is the truth. I had my course in hand gun (pistol) safety thru my church. Nuff said. |

well if you really want lessons you can just go out to an indoor range and rent a gun(like a deagle ) and get lessons |

as far as I'm concerned, they can make it a required class. | it depends how early you teach this class. Many criminals and murderers have dropped out of school and are therefore uneducated. However, if they are all taught to use guns correctly, we could end up with tons of murders and no attempted murders. |
