    Woohoo, I just got a new job!

     
    I was just offered, and accepted, a job at Apple as a Mac Genius. Neat thing is that they sought me out for this job. The recruiter called me from California a few times a week for the past two weeks to let me know what was happening every step during the interview and background check processes

    I am so psyched to be working for Apple. My head is spinning trying to figure out which product(s) I will use my employee discount on It will be nice to work in a cool and relaxed working environment for a change. It will be a huge difference from the production floor of factories and sheet metal shops!


    Please do not turn this into a Mac/Apple bashing thread.

    Let's see. I will be working in the back of the store repairing, upgrading and transfering customers data on products. I will also be available to speak with customers and answer any questions they have about hardware and software and help them solve problems. When I'm not doing that I will be dancing naked and swinging my unit like Ron Jeremy.

    My favprite color would be skin, as that is what I see where my hair used to be when I look in the mirror. Okay, it's actually blue

    So what does a "Mac Genius" do?
    Tech and service support at Apple Stores. Given Macs have a generally low repair rate, the Mac Genius position is usually the most cushy job at Apple Stores.

    That's great, Derek! I hope you are as happy with the job a year from now as you are now! Doing something that you really like is just the thing you need to succeed at it!

    (A side-note to everybody else: Instead of angling for discounts on I-Pods, I suggest you invest in the store he'll be working in, eh? )
