Unfortunately he uses this as an excuse to put out new books every six months that are half full of old material. I love reading and listening to the Kinkster, but I am going to wiat a couple of years to buy a book from him just to make sure it is all(or at least mostly ) new material. |

Ya gotta give him some slack, between his cam-pain and dealing with his pal, Little Jewford, our boy's got him some Tsuris! (hassle, that is)
I say we all register as Texas Voters, and cast our votes for the Kinkster, and make our Hero's dream come true, eh?
Of course, if you can suggest how we can all do that, I'll let you in on the purpose of the moon.
But still, wouldn't it be great? Kinky Friedman, The Gov'na of the Great State of TEXAS!!
Kinky wouldn't bow to corporate lobbyists, i know for sure! The guy's an Artist, for heaven's sake, not a criminal!
And he's got the gumption and attitude and plain common sense to make a difference! With Kinky, the political BS will come to its OK Corral for the shootout, and no child will be left behind! YAY, KINKY!!
Go, man, GO!!
btw, I'm serious! |

I am all for his run for governor. Do you think he give Willie Nelson general amnesty or make him poet laureate of Texas? I just wished when he puts out a book with recycled material, he would call it Greatest Hits or something. I also would love for him to record more new music.

| Update: Friedman Submits Petition for Texas Ballot Quote:
May 11,2006 | AUSTIN -- Musician and author Kinky Friedman took his rebel campaign for governor to state authorities Thursday, presenting 169,574 voter signatures he hopes will get him on the November ballot as an independent candidate.
"All I can say is, thank God for bars and dance halls," said Friedman, who wore his trademark black cowboy hat and chomped a cigar while explaining where many signatures came from.
Independent gubernatorial candidates had to collect 45,540 signatures from registered voters by Thursday's deadline to make it onto the ballot.
Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn, the other major independent in the race, turned in Tuesday what her campaign said were 223,000 voter signatures.
Republican Gov. Rick Perry and Democrat Chris Bell will be on the fall ballot because they won their parties' primaries in March.
The Secretary of State's Office has said it will take five or six weeks to verify whether Friedman and Strayhorn have enough valid signatures. An outside vendor will input the names into a computer database, then state officials will check the names for validity.
Those who signed the independent candidates' petitions cannot have voted in the Republican or Democratic primaries or runoffs. Voters cannot sign more than one independent petition, or the signature provided second won't be counted.
