Sorry, have to show off
My new fashionably stylish and technologically slow pimp phone. The Motorola RAZR V3 black edition. The best thing about this phone is that it can be customized through software flashing and other modifying techniques. So far I have increased memory capacity from 5MB to 7MB (No doubt that the flash I performed erased unneeded info already on the phone, since memory can only really be upgraded by physically adding it in). Phonebook menu selection is improved now as well. Now its time for me to start making my own ringtones using the software provided by Motorola. It also came to me unlocked, meaning that I can use it in over 100 countries all over the world just by switching SIM cats. Time for me to start slammin' cadillac doors

I have two friends that each have one. Not really impressed by it: it looked skinnier on TV than it really is, and the voice-dialing feature doesn't work 3 out of 5 times.

The girl in the picture is not my chick, despite the fact that I would have her morning, noon and night. I uploaded the picture for anyone that wants her. I bought the phone off of eBay from a vendor based in Hong Kong. If any of you plan on buying it, I suggest not paying more than $325 for it.
I too have had problems with the voice dialing, in high noise environments only. I really cannot complain too much about that. But since I flashed the phone, I am hoping there will be some improvements to that.
Pros:
-Looks cool.
-Not very common, especially here in Virginia (Cingular sells the silver and black version locked. I was told to stay clear of them because of service).
-Do-it-yourself upgradeability (Software-wise)
-Customizable screen menu (Skins, Wallpaper)
-Best resolution screen currently out for the price.
-Everyone digs the phone as a curiosity at the very least, good icebreaker for meating women (No I did'nt misspell that)
-Can make your own ring tones! No more paying for ringtones(If you ever did to begin with)
Cons:
- Really slow OS
Be nice if it had a fast and powerful Windows or Unix type OS
- Call switching is also slow
- Dont even think about dropping it on concrete (Parts to be replaced on the phone is so high, you might as well buy a new one.
- Price is high if you buy it from US retailers without a service plan in general
Cannot speak on GPRS system for the internet, because I do not pay for services that I do not need.Last edited by Darknyt; August 26th, 2005 at 03:53 PM.

So you can talk to people on that? I can do that with my phone, too! (just for hundreds of dollars less)

I love the way those look. I want one simply because they look so damn cool.
But I wouldn't know how to operate 3/4 of the functions and gadgets on it...
I've never really been "In to" cell phones.

Interesting phone - but how about a better picture? My phone has buttons and a screen that light up, too.

27 your such a killjoy

You know what makes it special? Not everyone over here in the US has them. And thats enough for me.
As for that PDA you are showing me, the talk time is half that of the RAZR, its not quad band, its heavier and slightly larger than the RAZR, standby time is 70 hours less than the RAZR....... Real phone you say??? Whatever gets you to sleep at night. I wont step all over your phone because pinions are allowed.... but the facts don't point your PDA out to be a better phone, sorry.

You misunderstood my post. I meant post a better picture of the phone. You posted a blurry shot of some illuminated keys and a colour screen. I've got the same thing. I want to see a picture of the actual phone.

Ahhhhhh Gomer, you just don't know what you are missing. hahahaha!!! What did Sir Mix alot say long ago?? Ah yeah..... "I like big butts and i cannot lie........" Its an aquired taste my friend. Everyone has likes and dislikes.
27, you totlly killed it for me!! I'm kidding though. The RAZR is a style phone and nothing more really.
I2n0ld, Im in backwater Virginia where people really don't make alot of money to meet basic living needs. I would expect it to be all over cali though. You guys/gals make dough.... well enough to pay that high cost of living. Speaking of that, hows the gas prices??? The lowest over here in Va is $2.25/gal.MacBook Pro
