| 3000 dead so far in South Asia More than 3,000 dead in devastating South Asia quake
The earth is coming apart at the seams so it seems. Hopefully Canada or a couple of other countries that haven't had a disaster can assist fast. I figure the States is already stretched a little thin presently and may not be able to get involved in there usual way. |

19 after shocks and 16 of them registering over 5.0. That's got to knock you off your feet. I've never experienced a big quake. In Toronto I felt a 3.2 while sitting on the thrown back in 84'. I thought, "What are they doing to the plumbing downstairs at this time of the morning?"
1,300 confirmed dead so far. |

| 16 over 5.0!
5.0 is a good size shaker and when you add that to building and foundations already weakened by the original (or ruble that may have had people still alive in pockets)

In Pakistan, 19,136 people were confirmed killed by yesterday's magnitude 7.6 earthquake, 11,000 of them in Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir alone, Interior Minister Aftab Sherpao told reporters today. The minister said 42,397 people were wounded. In India, more than 500 people died in Kashmir Valley, Shaukat Malik, senior superintendent of police, said in a phone interview from Srinagar, the state capital.
....
Those killed or missing in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir were estimated at 30,000, Tariq Farooq, the area's minister for works and communication, said today in a telephone interview from Islamabad. The three worst-affected areas are Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot and Bagh, the minister said.
.... There were more than 40 aftershocks of magnitude 4.5 or higher, the last of which, recorded around 2 p.m. local time today, was a little above magnitude 6, which is quite dangerous and might have caused some damage, Chaudhary said.
