Question My finger nail almost ripped off!!!what do I do??

Hey guy's. I was playing football and I got into a little freak accident. You see, the base of my nail ripped out of my finger but the front is still attached to my finger. I can't just rip it out. It's weird. The base of my nail is lying on top of my finger instead of inside it. I have it clean and bandaged but I want to know if it will fall out on it's own. and will the nail grow back????

Do not try to tear it off. Keep it bandage. It will fall off as soon as a new nail form in.

    thats kinda bad advice^^

i had once closed a car door on my finger, a truck door so ya it sucked.

Doc cut off the nail, and bandaged it up.

Let it naturally fall off. No bandages or anything unless you're going to do something that may rip it off. I dropped a plate on my toe and it just fell off on its own and a new nail grew back good as new.

Thats actually what it was created for, was bonding human flesh. I think its supposed to be for emergencies tho, so i dont know if it will be too pleasant or how well it will help the healing process.

I did the same thing a while back. Just put a bandage over it while it heals to keep it from getting hung up on something else and getting completely torn off. A new one will grow in time and push the old one out.

I'll be a very happy man if I can live the rest of this life without that ever happening.

Super glue contains volatile organic chemicals. Definitely not good for the human body! If you want a good skin adhesive, stop by a drug store and purchase a bottle of New Skin. It is like super glue, but properly formulated for human use.

You should just bandage it to the point of it not catching on any clothing, etc. You'll lose the nail quick enough. If you tear it off, it's gonna hurt like hell, but it would heal up just fine. ( I assume your description of the injury, you tore the nail off at the quick? Ouch.

    Lightbulb

Instead of asking for--and taking--medical advice on a Technology forum from a bunch of geeks, go and find a real doctor :-)

You don't need a real doctor for this. It's not really a matter of healthcare. I think leaving it unbandaged is the way to go, though. Let some air get to it and it'll be a little more pleasant, I'd so think when the new nail grows back. Of course, either way it doesn't matter...like hair, it'll grow back eventually.

Well I guess i'll just bandage it while I'm out and let it air while I'm at home. It looks to gross to let it air in public.
