I think in that case, you give the benefit of the doubt to both kids on the grounds of "innocence", yes the 16 year old might have some expereince, but no where near the expereince levels of a 25 year old. At 14 and 16 the kids could be considered, "expereimenting" where as with a 25 and 14, the 25 year old is definetly NOT expierementing.

Beemer, I don't think so, if the 14 and 16 year had hooked up and had sex, and if they got caught, they might know it was wrong, but its more of a "your not ready for that" wrong, not that either one of them, specifically did anything wrong. This 14 year old obviously knows this whole thing was very wrong, and that kind of guilt can do funny things to people. That kind of guilt really isn't present with a 14 and 16 year old, IMO.

Since the church has always held that woman should be virgin's till their wedding night and not necessarily men and I have been brought up in this double standard, I would be more concerned about a 14 year old girl having consensual sex with a 25 year old man. Yes.

Guys are looked at differently. Religion has maintained the “Man’s World”

Women are considered weak and vulnerable. Why? I've heard that girls mentally mature faster than boys up till about 19 years of age. Maybe the double standard is thought out in reverse to what should have been.

I consider a 25 year old woman to young. After great sex, what do we have in common to talk about?

one point which I have never understood is how a woman can seduce a 14 year old boy multiple times without his approval as no force was used ? ofcourse at some level, the boy was enjoying it...

Should she be fired? ... Yes
Will she teach again? ... More than likely not
Can the law touch her? ... No

And there is nothing wrong with the fact that the law cannot do anything. The child involved does not want to testify, the parents of the child do not want him to testify. Without his testimony the prosecution has zero case. Hence why they offered such an easy plea agreement for her.

To me there is no double standard here other than public perception. If a man did this and the effected child refused to testify, there simply is no case there. Prosecution cannot happen without the testimony of the child, thats all the concrete evidence they have. Now how the public would see it is another issue, but neither would be teaching ever again.

Personally I am not sure why the childs testimony is required.

Facts as I understand them

1) she was caught in the act (implying that there is someone to testify)
2) she has admitted it (AFAIK)
3) The people wittnessed having sex were her and a minor (a crime)
4) The victim (aka the minor) does not need to testify to get a conviction

Case is a slam dunk near as I can tell (game set and match)! Even with out the sorted details the uncooperative boy may be.

1) She was not caught in the act by anyone. A 15 year old teen witnessed some of it and later told his parents about it.
2) She never directly admitted doing it.
3) The only witness was a 15 year odl child.

Basicly the prosecutions entire case is on the word of a 15 year old who says he witnessed an event, that is all the evidence they have other than the 14 year olds testimony. The prosecution knows it has no case without the 14 year old which is why they dropped the charges.
