| Gay Toronto Radio OK, Catholic Radio No Way Quote:
Dear Friends of Catholic Radio:
It is with regret that I share with you some extremely sad news. On Holy Thursday, April 17, 2003, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) informed us that it has decided not to accept our application for our own radio frequency. http://www.catholicradio.ca/licence/index.html | and just recently....Quote:
Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2006-128
Ottawa, 5 April 2006
Rainbow Media Group Inc.
Toronto, Ontario
Application 2003-1912-0
Public Hearing in the National Capital Region
16 January 2006
English-language FM radio station in Toronto
In this decision, the Commission approves an application by Rainbow Media Group Inc. for a broadcasting licence to operate a new English-language commercial FM radio station in Toronto, Ontario. http://www.crtc.gc.ca/archive/ENG/De...db2006-128.htm | The AFA took notice and linked this article on their home page.... http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2006/apr/06040611.html
This is what the Catholics get for promoting their bigotry against gay rights according to Catholic core values. |

Of course the religious rags like to undercut the opposition in anyway they can as most of their readers will take what they say as the truth.

Unlike our northerly neighbors who always have something to say about our politics, I'll remain indifferent, for it doesn't concern - nor does it affect - me. |

Oh it does Bingo. Have no doubt about it. Especially now that we have a GWB clone job in office. Paradynes are watched for, or created, based on our good neighbour policies. |

IIRC there are already religious broadcasters in Toronto serving the Catholic community rather well. However, the gay community does not have a public broadcaster providing content to those of that particular sexual orientation. I believe the decision by the CRTC is intended to ensure equality and fair access. IMO, these rulings are separate from one another and the attempt to establish a link between the decisions is spin on the part of religious groups who do not agree with the decisions. Decisions by the CRTC are made on a case by case basis.
