U.S. Immigration Officers Arrest 2,000 Illegal Immigrants

"HOUSTON — U.S. immigration officers have arrested more than 2,000 illegal immigrants in a nationwide sweep, officials announced Wednesday.

In a blitz that began May 26, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 2,179 illegal immigrant gang members, pedophiles, violent felons and others who have sneaked back in the country after being deported.

About half the immigrants arrested in "Operation Return to Sender" have criminal records, said Julie Myers, assistant secretary for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

More than 360 were members or associates of violent gangs, including the notorious Mara Salvatrucha, or MS-13, she said.

Myers said most of those arrested had been placed in deportation proceedings, and 829 had already been sent home, while 121 arrested on criminal charges would be sent through the federal court system."

And how long will it be before those MS-13 members are back in the United States? Assuming they don't get arrested on various charges when they get home, they'll most likely be back real fast. Simply detaining and deporting them will not work.

I met someone that was deported on Thursday morning and was back in the country for work on Monday.

Deportation is useless and a wast of money unless the borders are enforced.

Returning after deportion is a felony. If your're MS - 13, you are going to get nailed.

When congress when home on recess they heard from the people, very loud and very clear. Expect change.

GOD IM TIRED OF HEARING ALL OF THIS!...I have many reasons for feeling this way and i don't have to go into detail about it. *yes me my parents and grandma were all born here we are all legal that is not the reason.*

Oh? How often is that law enforced? I know several people that have returned to the United States after being deported multiple times in the past few years.

This is one of those populist issues the politicans can't ignore. It's easy for the Fed to say "all right, get serious now" and things start happening.

I think the law will be enforced mildly against most illegals who make a second trip, but MS13 is going to get the hammer.

I think we are witnessing a "sea change" in the USA as it pertains to illegal immigration.

This should have been the first bullet used to get rid of these folks. I can't believe that this avenue was not performed long ago.
