pornographic? thats a pretty broad definition you're using. did I miss the pictures?!?!?
And said material doesn't make a book bad, its all about context. Good books are all about controversial material. To Kill A Mockingbird, for instance, deals with extreme racism. Who wants to read watered-down PC stuff?

Children don't get, "To Kill a Mockingbird" pushed on them at an early age.

No, your opinion stands as ill-informed, just as Theo pointed out. If you continue to adhere to it, it morphs into willfully ignorant, which is worse. |

My opinon still stands as fact until the ACLU proves it wrong. I have not been able to find any reference on the ACLU's website or the Maryland ACLU website to this story, not surprising. |

Also, the ACLU has many civil liberties issues to deal with, not just the "free exercise" clause of the First Amendment. And they have only a finite amount of money. That's why I think they'll file an amicus brief, which doesn't involve the huge effort and expense that bringing the suit itself does.
Whether or not they do, though, all past experience shows what side they'll be on, which is why I said you have no clue whatsoever. |

| I agree with Theo on this one. A compelling reason will have to be shown for this, she was not doing anything other than reading on free time? P.G. county is full of churches. It's an election year. This may get loud.

The Rutherford Institute is a non-profit conservative legal organization dedicated to the defence of civil, especially religious, liberties and human rights.
The ACLU on the other hand isn't so narrow in its view of civil rights. Civil rights for all. Not just those of a religious view point.
Doesn't that just piss you off mad1? How dare they conduct their business based on a level playing field and the Constitution.... That just isn't fair! lol

So then how would this supposed "secular purpose" lend itself to defense of religious liberty? |
