Democrats will just stand behind Reid as they do with William Jefferson. They should both resign in disgrace, but they are democrats, so you know they will remain in office until electoral defeat. |

meanwhile, the republicans have indeed rid themselves of Foley... he stepped down - and Dems just shoved William Jefferson (Democrat, LA) under a rug... when the feds have him on camera accepting huge bribes...

If William Jefferson (Democrat, LA) accepted bribes he not only should leave Congress but should go to jail. Until then, he's innocent until proven guilty.
My understanding of the Reid case is, that Reid may have failed to report a $1.1 million profit on land originally sold to a 3rd party in which he then took an ownership position in. The $1.1M profit was made when the 3rd party sold the land in 2004. The profit was made legally and no corruption is charged. I don't really see the problem.

And it isn't any surprise to anyone who's bought a house that land values have increased greatly between 1998 and 2004.
And he reported his profits in his financial disclosure form.
The whole story is here. |

sure, theo, he nearly tripled his 400,000 investment. What stinks of corruption on it though is that he had a hand in having the land re-zoned. He pushed it through the committee because he had the power to, and profited from it.
"Our" chances against "yours" theo? The republican who was bad stepped down, and they've said anyone they find who knew this was going on is gone, too. Proving that the republicans get rid of the dirty actors.
The dems still have Jefferson in office, and you wanna play "guilty until proven innocent" with him, MTA? I thought corruption was corruption? Or is it only when it's republicans that they should immediately resign and then investigate? |

$700,000 is not triple $400,000; it's not even double. In the last six years, my house's appraised value has gone up that much.
If you want to talk about profiteering on land values, you should look into Denny Hastert's sweet deal. |

Reid should have listed it on his sources and uses sheet that us unsuspecting public use to see who is paying off who.
I love to see Democrats defending corruption!
What are you going to say about Sandy Burgler when he pops up again? He was covering up holes in his pants?
Hey MTA, you better change your sig. Warner didn't think a defeat will be good for his career!
