| So theres this giveaway, see,
In Japan McDonalds offered free MP3 players with 10 free songs to 10,000 customers who sent in a unique number on their soda glass. BUT, the MP3 was infected with QQpass a data logger that logged and transmitted the customers passwords, usernames and other data.
The question comes up, IF you recieved a free MP3 player or a free USB memory device would you trust it?

The article didnt say where the info was sent to. It MIGHT have simply been to McD's, but even so its a security breach. Not to mention illegal here. I dont know, it MAY be legal to do it in Japan. |

I can't believe McDonald's would allow such a thing, even in Japan. How stupid can you get, corporate-relations wise?
Wouldn't it be funny if it was the SUPPLIER of the MP3's, that fixed 'em up like that, without McD's knowledge?
Can you imagine an entire Japanese geek corporation in which its officers are missing their pinky finger?

Creatures | it sounds like it started the infection as soon as you plugged it into the computer. Quote: |
In all 10,000 winners were announced and each got a Mac branded flash DAP preloaded with 10 tunes. However the MP3 players were infected with QQpass a very dangerous malware. So your PC is infected once you connect the DAP and it starts logging and transmitting username, passwords and other vital information.
