I don't know, but what's the big deal about them? I didn't like tabs when I used them.

InternetWorks (circa 1994) was the first tabbed browser. Browser tabs as we currently know them were introduced by Simulbrowse (now Netcaptor) in 1998. Opera 4.x followed the trend in 2000. Mozilla added tabs in 2003.

As for the purpose of tabbed browsing, the feature is great for us people that commonly have 30+ web pages loaded. I oftentimes exceed 100 open pages, which would be a nightmare for Windows to manage with non-tabbed browsers.

Heck I do that but I just enlarge my task bar when I've lost something or need to get the page back. But I don't hide the task bar I generally even have it twice as tall as most people, so I can see the pages I have open.

I agree tabs suck

the problem is switching to other applications from the browser then wanting to switch to another tab than you were previously on...and it can sometimes be a hassle if you want to open a new window side by side

I usually keep my task bar 4 stories tall but thats enough for 80ish windows open

on a side note...anyone know if there is a way to group similar windows but not have them stack up when you open too many (registry tweak or something)

They don't impress me either. Guess you've got to be a surfing junky for it to mean much.
