| Someone failed math at Time Warner
So today I was looking through the junk mail (the snail mail kind) and stumbled upon a flyer from Time Warner advertising a new Road Runner improvement. The new Extreme tier was being upgraded from 10mbps to 15mbps, giving the users a "150% faster" experience. Now, sure, the new speed is 150% of the old speed, but it's not 150% faster, it's only 50% faster.... (Reminds me of the Verizon .01 cents debate) |

i'd be willing to bet it was a cognizant decision to put 150 as opposed to 50.
There are probably more stupid people out there that would think 50% faster was half as fast than they're are people who know that 15 is not 150% faster than 10. |

I heard some guy on a finance show touting gold who claimed that "stocks have lost 120% of their original value" over a certain period of time.
Not the kind of guy that I would trust with any of my money.
Going on the premise that the average person is an idiot at math, my guess is no one really cared whether it's 50% or 150% faster. |

Will anyone even notice 10mb/s vs 15mb/s?
My fastest continuous download was 4mb/s. |

Well, they are the cable company! Really, we need more choices. Hopefully with Verizon running fiber, we'll have some soon. |
