Yah they love that crap. Even Mc Donalds serves it for breakfast.
Meat + can = no good
During lunch time at my old high school they would sell musubi and they would go so quickly. Honestly and i know this will offend some people, i always associated Spam with poor people. But when i moved to the islands i learned differently and to this day i still hate that crap

Spam sushi is so wrong... so so wrong...
Once in a great while I get a craving for some, then I have it on a hamburger bun with ketchup and mustard and a thin slice of onion. But one fix is enough for a year or so...
On the other hand, canned meat can be good when it's in the form of sardines.
It's funny you say that, because I think the same thing at times... then you realize on a pound/pound basis the stuff is way more expensive then most forms of meat.i always associated Spam with poor people.Last edited by Detritus; June 11th, 2007 at 06:18 PM.

Spam is also popular in US territories further west in the Pacific. Goes back to WWII.
AFAIK, spam was also unregulated in the UK during WWII, thus sold is great quantities. From what I understand, spam has become a despised food in the UK for this reason.

A little too salty for my taste, but here's their funny website.

If salt is a concern, spam now comes in a "low" sodium variety. Considering the ingredients, perhaps that should read "lower" sodium variety instead.

Some Japanese friends who own a sushi bar needed my help to wallpaper the bar's back wall. I'd get there in the morning, and Tsuneo's wife made breakfast for us all. What she did with Spam was surprising!
In a wok, she'd julienne the Spam into fine strips, and cook it with green onions, cooked ramen, and scrambled eggs. It was AMAZINGLY good!

I like spam. I haven't had it in ages though.

Like Rob said, spam is a dubya dubya two thing. Remember, Hawaii was a major naval station and base for the entire Pacific Fleet so a LOT of spam passed through there. Spam is also very versatile. You can use it to swab the deck, polish the guns, clean the windows, shine the brass, and uh...eat I guess.

Believe I already posted this one in IIJM, but here ya' go for a quick spam fix:
1. Slice the spam into several equal pieces.
2. Coat the slices in mustard.
3. Roll the slices in corn flakes.
4. Bake in the oven at a moderate temperate until brown.
5. Serve warm.
Been awhile since I have served spam, though I usually just go for standard pan fried spam. Get it to a nice crunchy texture, then serve on your bread of choice as a sandwich. I like mine with ketchup.Robert Richmond | Infinite perceptions. One reality.

I'm thinkin that just floppin it in some flour and fryin it (Chicken Fried) would be good too. Add your favorite condiments and Voi La.! French Cuisene.

I like Spam marinated in Texas Pete, then loosley wrapped in foil and cooked in a smoker. Once the flavors settle it, you put it on the grill for a minute to harden the outside and lock in the flavors. Makes great BBQ as well.
