Humans could marry robots within the century. And consummate those vows. "My forecast is that around 2050, the state of Massachusetts will be the first jurisdiction to legalize marriages with robots," artificial intelligence researcher David Levy at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands told LiveScience. Levy recently completed his Ph.D. work on the subject of human-robot relationships, covering many of the privileges and practices that generally come with marriage as well as outside of it.
At first, sex with robots might be considered geeky, "but once you have a story like 'I had sex with a robot, and it was great!' appear someplace like Cosmo magazine, I'd expect many people to jump on the bandwagon," Levy said.

Levy argues that psychologists have identified roughly a dozen basic reasons why people fall in love, "and almost all of them could apply to human-robot relationships. For instance, one thing that prompts people to fall in love are similarities in personality and knowledge, and all of this is programmable. Another reason people are more likely to fall in love is if they know the other person likes them, and that's programmable too."

Am I the only one who finds this completely ridiculous?!?!

i say might try it, that is to say that if I were not married, young and that the robots were as good or better than women then the only thing against them is lack of pregnancy, and lack of incompatibility, and possibly an intitial social stigma.


Lets put it this way though Even if I would not try it, I would invest heavily in it, right now blow up dolls are a prosperous business. whores are a bustling business. A good robot would far exceed those two industries.

Even though I like it's crazy, I could *see* why people would try sexual interaction. ...But not marriage.. there is no being "in love" or being in a relationship with a robot.

I think it would be just another way to screw up marriages... is sex with a robot cheating?

Marry? What's the basic difference between a sex robot and an inflatable doll? You don't marry an inflatable.

If the robot has self-knowledge, it's a different story. But when you have robots with their own minds, you have bigger issues than shtupping them to deal with.

There isn't a difference.. I think that Professor Crazy who is doing all this research is a goon.. either that or he's sitting back laughing at everyone taking this seriously.
