Cool The BEST words to propose a girl?

You see, I'm not married yet but I know that one day, I have to get married.

I broke up with my ex on my 10th relationship, about 2 years ago now.

So, I'm figuring this out. Been thinking for sometime, about how to propose a girl when the time is right.

Can anybody tell me what's the best word to propose her?

Thanks in advance. I hope this thread helps!

Propose or proposition? I am assuming you mean propose marriage, not proposition for casual sex.

IMO keep it simple but meaningful. The actual words "will you marry me?" may sound corny, but no girl can misunderstand what you mean when you say them, so they'd be my recommendation for actual wording. As to when and where, that's very dependent upon your relationship with the girl and both of your personalities. I recall hearing someone who got the half-time announcer at a large sporting venue to make the announcement when tthe guy and his gal were sitting in the stands. Not for everyone, though. But the possibilities of place and time are almost endless.

    Cheers

Words are unnecessary. Do it at gunpoint.

Wondering if you're thinking about the one where the guy didn't know his friends set it all up...The guy looked at his girlfriend and said it was a joke. She smacked him real hard and ran away

Dj-Icer, you'll know what to say when the time is right. In theory, you'll also have a good idea what her response will be

"Will you make me the happiest man in the world" has worked for many...
"Life is unpredictable, eat dessert first."

Yep... if she points a gun at you, say "yes". If there isn't a gun involved... run like hell.

Why do you have to get married?!?! You should want to get married, not think that it is a requirement of some kind.

Otherwise, what Mickwish said works well.

Write the words "Will you marry me" on the bottom of a beer can!
Over heard in a restaurant: "How do you want your eggs?" the waitress asked. "NFL Style. Beaten"!

personally i think marriage is an antiquated ideal that goes against the very nature of our beings.

You are designed to procreate and spread your genes so that the weaker of the species are unable too. I think marriage is a shame designed and propagated by women to maintain an ideal that corrupts the very nature of love into a twisted owner/slave relationship.

Why buy the cow when you're getting the milk for free?

The best way to propose is to not.

the right words will come when the right girl comes along. don't worry about it. You're single, so how bout concentrating on saying "hello" first.

I guess it depends if she is your cousin or your sister. If she is your cousin you might consider being a little more formal.

10th anniversary? 10 what? If it is years she should have dumped you long ago.

I see we have some real romantics here on TIMO..

I agree with some of the others here. If it's the right girl, you'll know what to say. You won't have to make a thread about it here.
And I'm also curious about the meaning of "the 10th". What is that?

That is, unless the father is more than happy to pass the cost of his daughter onto some other schmuck.

No, i just dont understand the need to devote oneself to another in a way that means nothing outside of itself. If you want to be with someone be with them. It's not like a peice of paper and ceremony bring you any closer than you already are. I live in california where a quarter or more of all marriages end in divorce, its just a reality i live with.

I don't care to take a sappy approach or buy into the social norm. Sure if you want to publicly declare your love for each other, put an ad out in the paper. It will cost as much or less than the marriage license and more people will know about it then you might think. Again, marriage doesnt make the couple ... the two people choosing to be together make the couple.
