Best Flight Prices



So far, www.Priceline.com offers the best prices compared with Orbitz and Expedia. Anyone have sites that get better prices than Priceline?

Did you try Travelocity? YMMV.

I haven't used Travelocity for flights, but it has occasionally proved capable of slightly beating some of the other mainstream travel sites for hotels.

Forgot about Travelocity, thanks, Rob. They're not cheaper, but the site hooked me up with igougo.com, which does price comparisons using www.Hotwire.com, www.sidestep.com, www.cheaptickets.com.

So far only Hotwire has a matching total price with Priceline... (and if nothing cheaper is found, Priceline will get my booking because of William Shatner's kung-fooey schtick).

I use Kayak. Or maybe vayama for oversees flights. I've never used farecast but it's supposed to tell you when the cheapest time is to fly if your dates are flexible.

It's always a game to find the best price. Use Kayak's "my dates are flexible" link because prices fluctuate so much over just a day's difference:

Thanks for the flex-date info on Kayak, and farecast - I didn't notice that Kayak could be used for same-day flex pricing, as my dates are not flexible this time.

On a related note, if you get frustrated with an airline's flight status inaccuracies, either online or on the phone, try FlightAware.

When I was studying abroad in England I used www.skyscanner.net to find "El Cheapo" flights. Apparently they have made the site world wide so you can check flights out of your city. Note that, at least when I used it in England, it only shows you direct flights. Also, some of the companies it used in England (like RyanAir) did not include a checked bag. I don't know if any US carrier does that, but something to keep in mind when you are looking for the cheapest.

SkyScanner.net has another cool feature, though not relevant to this trip for you. You can pick a destination and a month, and it will give you a calendar showing you the lowest prices available for every day using every cheap airline.

Also, it is fun clicking on airports on the map and see where you can take a direct flight from.
