Say you reference an entry from a blog site supporting TrackBacks. You can insert the link to the blog entry into the forum post's TrackBacks form field when posting, and the blog will receive a TrackBack notifying the blog author that you have posted something relevant to the original blog entry.

If I understand correctly, it's like when you look at YouTube video statistics and see where clicks/views are derived. If someone posts a video on, say, a MySpace site, you can find who posted it. | |

That is a kind of TrackBack for TechIMO posts. LinkBack to be technical.
For example, I copy-and-pasted the permalink for your above post to the IIJM thread at ResellerRatings. Is it just me? - Page 55 - ResellerRatings Store Ratings, Shopping, Deals, and Bargains
