Par is 72 usually. If you bogey (1 over) on each hole, you shoot 90. That is pretty good.

Myself? My best round was a 112. I have yet to break 110. That is down from 160 which was what I shot the first few times I played....

Well, the reason I ask, is my son (16) shot a 93 today after not playing but 3 times in the last 6 months and before that over a year.. he seemed to think his dad was patronizing him saying it was good..
That is down from 160 which

Well, we know you're not a quiter!!

I usually shoot an 85 - 90 on 18. My little brother (who is 13, btw) can easily shoot under par on 18. His determination to this is incredible, though.

I just wish he'd teach me how to drive the ball as far as he does..

oh yeah - 93 on 18 if you don't golf often (Often being more than once a week) is actually quite good..

I usually shoot around the 78 mark and I'm a 5 handicap.. Been playing for 22 years though (I'm 30 now). I also caddied for a Friend who plays for England amateurs at St Andrews 4 years ago. The tournament was won by none other than Sergio Gacia. He turned pro 2 months after.

I hardly get time to play now but summer is approaching and I managed to spend 5 hours today on the practice range.

I do like the game, but it has been so long I would be doing good to break 110 in 9 holes.

The question should be how much do you spend on golf equiptment.. I shudder to think what I have spent over the last few years... I've probably been through half a dozen putters and drivers alone. Every year I seem to buy the latest and greatest gizmo that will hopefully bring my handicap down just another stoke.. Never seems to work though

I play a few times a year and shoot a little over bogie golf.
I dont take mulligans and cheat though.

If anyone tells you they shoot bogie golf or better, and doesnt golf often, they are LYING.

I think my best score on 18 was 116. I only get a chance to play a full course about 2 or three times a year. Mostly I'll play a quick nine with a few buddies. par's something like 32-36 and I'll shoot 50 something.
    All 1.21 of them.

I usually shoot between 90-95 out of 100.

    Oh, wrong type of range.

    Ummm, What's golf?

I played once, and could honestly throw the ball farther than I could hit it with that stupid lil' stick.

    Golf's not for everyone.

My son is 18 and a senior this year in high school. He has been playing golf now for two years. He is averaging around a 48-50 do you think he has a shot at making a college team next year or should he not consider the idea. He is a very determined young man and loves the sport. He actually got involved after a football accident which he hurt his neck and was not allowed to return to the sport. It has been great for him!

An average round is in the low hundred/sub hundred range for a casual golfer. An avid golfer is going to be anywhere from slightly above par to the 80's overall. You'll find some anomalies of course.

Sounds like the boy has a natural swing and good depth perception. Usually the harder part of hitting a golf ball is hitting it the right distance....most people concentrate on hitting it straight. Hit it straight off the course and into traffic on that dogleg right!
