Do you strength train and endurance train?

Workouts sculpt heart as well as muscles | Health | Reuters
Quote:
Exercise can cause structural changes in the heart -- and the changes can vary depending on the type of exercise.

Researchers found that endurance athletes showed an increase in the size of both their left and right ventricles after 90 days of team training. However, athletes who only did strength training had excessive growth in their left ventricles, but no change at all in their right ventricle size.

In addition, the ability of the left ventricle to fully relax between beats (diastolic function) was enhanced in the endurance athletes, but it worsened in the strength trainers.

It is possible that this could point the way towards tailored recommendations for rehabilitation and recreational exercise for people with heart problems.

I train for endurance and cardio improvement. I can't wait to be able to start running again. It's the best feeling ever to be able run several miles. I really miss it.

I only do strength training these days.
With cardio, Im not to fond of one of side effects: sweat. Bad for my face complextion.

Probably what's bad for your complexion is not keeping your face very clean and drinking lots of water. You should wash it before and after you work out.

I do. I take 3-4 showers a day. And ONLY drink water.

But when Im doing cardio daily, its inevitable that my face gets some acne.
But now that I dont anymore; quite smooth!

"Do you strength train and endurance train"? Both!

All three: Body, mind and soul.

Latter in life strength isn't as important. Unless you want to look like a mutant..

I mainly do endurance training 30 flights of steps 4-5 days a week with a 20 lbs pack. I would like to start strength training again. I do have some stuff at home but the kids just wear me right out when i get home.

Interesting. I have good muscle tone (lifting boards alla time) but I've never given any thought to endurance stuff. Guess if I pop out early, it'd be that pesky right ventricle.
