? ever driven a stick shift car? I assume you mean the auto ones. And even then i'm not quite sure that that is a good quality of the car. It might be indicitive of poor tires or other problems heh

Neat. The rain was coming down in one direction, and then it shifted in like half a second and is coming down the other direction.
No, I don't mean it's going upwards.

The Mazdaspeed MX-5 Miata looks like a neat car.

if you want to learn how to drive. THAT is the car you want to get. Tight little chassis/suspension, rwd. Not too much power. I promise you a miata with a good driver goes around a track faster than a mustang.

A Miata, eh? My forarms are too long to shift in a Miata.
RWD cars are the best. I'll never go back to FWD. Until I do.

Wow. It's amazing how much Metallica Pantera ripped off.

This was the car my dad use to have, a 2000 Z24 convertable. Me and my brother raced a friend who had a 2001 Camero V6 and beat him in the drag.

August 9th, 2004, 04:23 PM #7688To that last part, where did you come up with that, and what Mustang and Miata is in the comparison? A Mustang GT and/or an SVT will handily beat any stock Mazda car.

Miata has better handling so he might be right about it beating ti on a track.

I'm not talking about the drag strip. Autox is what i mean. And also what i consider "learning to drive". Any old fool can launch his mustang with a built auto

I have never been in a mustang actually, but have heard its handling compared to a "centurion mud pig" ;/
that just stuck in my mind

I'd take my Cherokee on a road track over a Mustang.
Wait, back up, the 2001 Z24 wasn't the same motor as the normal Cavalier? News to me. I was told by a dealer that they were the same car, minus things like stiffer suspension and a tach.
If it was 150HP, I'm not all THAT surprised you beat a V6 Camero. Cameros are heavier than Cavs by a fair bit and that 3.8 only puts out like 200HP or something. Heck, were they even using a 3.8 in 2001?
I thought you meant older cars, like 90s stuff. Remember the horror of the TPI 305 Cameros? You're probably too young.

August 9th, 2004, 04:33 PM #76940.02 g's in a skidpad won't make up for the lack of low-end torque and overall power. Even a novice in a GT or SVT could beat an experienced driver in a Miata.

if you want to talk about the svt cobra, at least consider the mazdaspeed mx5. With simple suspension mods you're talking about carrying a fair amount of extra speed ( 4 or 5 mph) thru those turns. Thats where you make up time on a track, straighaways are not as prevalent as most people think. Not to mention braking distances, which mustangs have always been awful at. Not like those skimpy miatas.

I think you're wrong, Bing. For instance, I bet I'd school you something fierce in said Miata if you were in said Mustang.

That is if I didn't break my elbow trying to shift the darn car.

I might also mention that mustangs use a live rear axle (pfft what is this the 60's?) Its made for the drag strip. GL trying to power out of a turn with no limited slip whatsoever.
