| Input needed, Portable 12v Cooler/Warmer
Anyone ever use these portable 12v DC warmer/coolers? I'm looking for input on how well they actually warm something. They say 120* or -/+ 60* in ambient temp, but say I want to reheat a burrito or something along those lines do they have enough juice to actually get it "hot" or at least reasonably warm?
Typically I'd do a little manifold re-heating but on our ford there really isn't a good place to place anything to get it hot. I could probably make a one off basket or something else but I'm looking for quick easy and portable.
In case you don't know what I'm talking about I'm looking at something like this Portable Fridge & Warmer | Walgreens | Walgreens Amazon.com: Black & Decker 12 Volt Thermo-Electric Cooler/Freezer/Warmer: Automotive |

It is basically a peltier doing the cooling/heating. Don't expect great results. It might keep something warm for an extra hour or two, but for actually reheating something, pretty much forget it.
Start work on your manifold cooker design IMO.

I use one on the road all the time - if you put cold stuff in it will stay cold. It's not designed to cool like a refigerator at home.
Also once I bumped the switch to "hot" and it blew up my Pepsi's...
It got hotter'n in hell!
Also, you'll need one of those power sensor gizmo's from Kragen or somewhere that shuts it off before it wears your battery down.

Blowing up a pepsi or two would be bad, that could be a hell of a mess. |
