A Persian lamb stew with carrots, prunes, saffron and lime juice; a sort of herb omelet called a kuku; steamed saffron basmati rice; and lemon sherbet with cardamom.

Sounds pretty fantastic. Not sure about the kraut and bacon, but I'd give it a try at least.

Easter dinner here will be BBQ meatloaf with ground sirloin, deviled eggs (teehee?), mashed potatoes, and probably green beans in my signature butter, garlic and oregano sauce.

Making a dish tonight my family calls "spillatto" - it's was something my great grandfather was known for. It's an Italian poor mans soup with hamburg, rice, beans.. sounds weird I'm sure - but its comfort food. We love it.

I made stir fried beef in garlic sauce with pea pods, broccoli, carrots and onions. I use a recipe I got from bakespace.com, then double the red pepper and add white pepper.

I also made a small batch of egg drop soup. Not the best I've ever made unfortunately.

That sounds good. You used a 1 instead of an L for "500m1" though.

Yeah, the original was in sans-serif, and the OCR didn't distinguish. When I converted to Times New Roman I failed to catch it.

    Old school OCR, nice.

I think I am going to make a simple pork stir-fry tonight. I'm in the mood to make something, but not something overly ambitious.

I decided to make some miso for a appetizer. Nothing beats miso made right from a homemade dashi stock.

It's been a long time since I've had miso.... maybe I'll try making my own stock sometime.

It's super easy. You just need dried dashi konbu and dried katsuoboshi (tuna flakes). Four cups of water, 5x5" piece of konbu and 1/2 cup of katsuoboshi. You slice the konbu up into quarters, then cut slices into the sides of the quarters to help with saturation. Put those in the pot of water over as low a flame as you can. When the kelp starts floating, you take it out, turn off the heat, and add the fish flakes. You let it stand until the flakes sink to the bottom, then seive it through cheesecloth. Once you have the strained broth, put it back over the low flame and add your miso paste (generally 1tbsp per cup) and stir it every so often to get the paste to separate. Never ever let it boil. Once it's warm pretty good, add your vegetables or tofu or whatever and heat through.

Mine came out pretty salty so I think I probably used too much paste. I don't dislike it though.

Supertastic soup night tonight. I made a 4 cup pot of hot and sour soup and I'm putting the roux into an 11 cup (probably 10 after boil) pot of my famous ham and potato soup.

Ok, our lunch and dinner may not seem the most nutritionally best of meals, but after the month I have, it was great! I ran the boneless skinless chicken thighs under water, then I put them under one of the Kraft bread crumb and cheese mixes, and then onto the pan and into the oven along with homemade sweet potato fries, unfortunately which burned. Well, it's a beginning, I will make them thicker next time, and maybe not as lone in the oven! Well, at least the ones that were not that burned, along with the chicken were delicious!

Since my wife is out Baby Sitting.....

Orange Blossoms w/ Tanqueray and a twist of lime to clear the throat and sinus.

Butterfly Macaroni w/ Chicken/Marinara Sauce .Fresh grated Parmesan topped with HOT crushed Red Peppers.

    As usual ..The Valpolicella

Then, Frozen Vanilla Yogurt topped with nutmeg and caramel glaze.

Medaglia D'Oro for the final rinse.

Then crawl to the couch and exist...

I got some local pizza and deep-fried pickles for lunch. And I had it for dinner, too.
