| New York drivers angriest, most aggressive
It took determination and commitment, but New York succeeded in passing Miami as the city with the angriest, most aggressive drivers.
Miami had to settle for this consolation prize: Quote: |
Miami won the distinction as the city where people were most likely to shave, read or put on make-up while driving.
| As the saying goes, if you don't like the way they drive in Miami, stay off the sidewalk. |

Having spent some time in both places, I agree with both. That said, NY may be angry/aggressive, but it is organized chaos (complete contradiction, I know). It has a rhythm though, and if you are aggressive and confident, it actually works out great. Not so with Miami, or anywhere in FL. Just generally a mess.

| That's the reason I quit carring a handgun even though I have a license. I wanted to kill a S.O.B. a while back due to the rage he caused

NY for 29 years
IL for 1 year
Germany 3 weeks
VA for 12 years
Florida for 10 weeks probably total.
when I get past exit 98 in new jersey you need to begin puttin on your game face. By the GWB you had better have gotten used to it because after you cross that it is thunderdome time.
it is funny how the stress builds from VA relatively calm to NYC insanity.
takes about 1 day to get back into asshole mode for NY and about the same to begin to relax in VA. |

New Yorkers may be the most aggressive drivers in the nation, but are they the worst? The ones in DC may be more polite, but they're bloody incompetents. Hardly a one knows how to drive in the rain, much less the snow. And they think red lights are merely decorative.

NY drivers seem pretty solid from my experience. FL, MD, and CT seem to have a larger share of incompetence. |

NYC definitely stands out in my mind as probably one of the most insane driving environments in the US. I've driven through DC plenty of times (and I mean through it, not around the beltways), and it's like a warm up for driving through NYC despite a similar amount of heavy traffic.
Orangeline, incompetence definitely peaks in MA as far as I'm concerned. It's probably one of the most frustrating states to drive through because the drivers are just utterly clueless and drive slowly on average. |

| What's with this "Study" ?
I wonder if they used my own Research Instrument. which is copyrighted, trademarked, and patented. If so, I will triple-sue them.
If not..well how much confidence can you place in that study??.
See below> While originally devised for NYC, this "written test" can be applied -with some modifications -- in many Big Towns, both here and abroad.
1) You stop at a Red light, just behind the crosswalk, as required. The light turns Green. People keep streaming by in crosswalk. What to do?
2) You are at an intersection, but you keep getting blocked from moving every time the light turns green by 'Spillbackers' (a common problem). What to do?
3) You need to slow down and you do. but you notice in rearview mirror the taxicab behind you accelerates. What to do?
4) You are driving with space in front of you with a driver to your right and want to pass him, but this being Big Town , you know he might turn into lane in front of you without signaling.. What to do?
5) Why might he not signal, assuming he's a proficient driver?
6) What is the most effective way of signaling in a traffic jam, anyway ? The Big City Drivers Written Driving Test.
