The only issues you may run across is a CEL ( check engine light ) that will come on saying that the secondary O2 sensor is reading off since it will read the same value as the first one )
Beyond that, you may lose some low end due to lack of back pressure. Beyond that, you won't hurt the motor. |

I've done a few things since the last post, still no joy. I disconnected the exaust system to test if back pressure is causing the stalling... no change (just louder). I disconnected the air intake system so the throttle body is pulling air from the engine compartment... no change. The "Emission Valve", which is a one way valve, wasn't working so I replaced that. I sprayed carb cleaner on all known vacuum junctions, no change in engine idle. The "turbo pressure control" seems to be stuck, so that is the next thing to fix. I also got new vacuum lines with a larger diameter (when I replaced them before, I used what was on hand).
Do you guys have any other suggestions? |

Do you guys think a stuck wastegate can cause this? Also, I think "jerking" could be a better word than "stalling". |

There's no way in hell I would have had a clue without it. Don't forget the fuel pump pressure. Good Luck

The wastegate is fixed and the turbo pressure control is replaced. Still no joy.
Right now, my vacuum pressure is at 12nM at idle. I was told it should be about 21. I need to verify that the vacuum pressure is off. Anyone know what the vacuum pressure needs to be at idle?
Also, anyone know how to test the throttle position sensor? |

If you aren't pulling enough vacuum, then you have a restriction on the exhaust side. |

I have allready dissconnected the exhaust system, no effect. Right now I'm planning on replacing the vacuum lines with the correct inner diameter and testing the map sensor with a vacuum pump and voltmeter. I'll let you know the results. |

I just got the vacuum lines in the mail. I'm using 4mm ID (same as before) and cutting them to original length. I took off the throttle body to test the throttle position sensor and verify that there's a good seal. According to Saab 900 SE Turbo "With the connector unplugged, the resistance measured between pins 1 and 3 should change gradually between 2.5k Ohms with throttle plate closed, and 1.0k Ohms fully open." I get no reading at all. The other problem I'm having is replacing the alternator. The alternator is attached with 2 long hex key bolts. On the first bolt, I broke off the round end of my allen key. I've since got a set of allen sockets, but am having a problem getting the end of the allen key out of the hole. Any suggestions? |
