What are your thoughts on sacroiliitis

I personally think I would prefer to be raped with a red hot poker in prison by a 290 pound inmate named Bubba.

11:24 I entered shower for dull pain in back.
~11:34 I got out and began to towel off my hair and working down my body I raised my left leg to the edge of the tub.

~11:34:35 I bent down to dry my left leg
~11:34:36.7 I lifted my right leg to the tub rim.
~11:34:37.5 I bent over to dry my right leg and foot
~11:34:37.7 I felt a crunch and shot pain all overwhelming me.
~11:34:38.1 I stood up and decided that was a really bad idea.

Now but naked and damp I decided to drip dry for a while and assess my predicament on hands and knees.

After several failed attempts I decided I could not spend the rest of my life on the bathroom floor on hands and knees. so at approximately 12:10 AM I decided to stand up no matter what. I did so and walked to my bed and flopped down.

going to work sucks I look like a corkscrew over a week and counting and vicodine does jack

Jeeze man, is that all they can do for you is pain killers? I read the description and was thinking it'd be no worse that arthritis... but it definitely sounds way worse...

So that everyone reading won't have to go out and Google:

Quote:
Sacroiliitis is an inflammation of either just one or both of the joints that connect your lower spine to your pelvis. It is characterized by extreme pain and a severely restricted range of motion, and may be accompanied by other symptoms such as fever, skin conditions, and diarrhea. Most patients seek treatment for this condition as soon as symptoms begin to manifest, because sacroiliitis is very painful. Diagnosis of sacroiliitis can be difficult, and it is sometimes confused with general lower back pain and other conditions which can cause back pain. Diagnostic tests to rule out other conditions can sometimes be costly, but are well worth the expense.

I would say that I feel your pain - but I'd rather not

I say man-up Ep!

I've got some issue right now w/ my right SI joint myself right now and/or psoriatic arthritis and/or hamstring tendonosis.

I'm just kidding though... sounds like I'm not nearly in as much pain as you are.. it's just affecting my ability to stay active and causing some other muscles to get pretty pissed with me.

My understanding... from the internets... is that to diagnosis it as an SI problem they need to guide a needle into the joint w/ Xray and shoot it up w/ novacaine to see if that is the problem.

I'm working on some stretching and strengthening exercises to see if that clears things up. I've got some extremely strong muscles in my legs and some extremely weak ones as a result. Gotta get the loads balanced and loosen up my external rotators. Maybe. Have you been doing your stretching?

Right now I'm at the point that I'd hate to have to spend $2500 going to the doctor only to find out I need to do some PT.

I am back and functioning. words of wisdom hard learned by the Epidemic man. These words are probably a dream to some.

I don't know if they will help everyone but here them come in a series of 4 words.

Get A TENS Unit!!! they are available by prescription but they also appear to be available On line they seem to run between 30 and 130 for most products and it has allowed me to return to work. Within 10 minutes I felt improvement.

Currently (hehe current) I am wearing my 18 hours a day with the constant drone of Bzzzzt---------------- bzzzzt----------------Bzzzzt---------------- bzzzzt and i am able to ride in a car with out devastating pain. I can sit upright and eat dinner. I can even carry my laptop and sometimes my son.

My back is no longer the spasm formed shape of a pretzel.

Gomer got to PT have them perform some "muscle energy techniques" and get them to somehow prescribe a tens unit. if there is no improvement in a day or two then go for your MRI and novacaine thingy.

my PT routine right now consists of

some stretching and isometric re-alignment exercises and accupressure (muscle energy techniques.)

I am hoping to be able to Belt test mid August for my green belt.
