English is a living language, bud. And it's going to keep changing forever.
We could always do it the Japanese way. They don't have plurals at all. Words for groups of things, but no pluralizations.
Apparently pluralizations isn't a word (pluralization is). |

"IS are investigating..."? Or should that be, "ARE is investigating..."?
I suppose it depends on what the definition of IS is. |

I was in full agreement that I hate when people say "Microsoft are...." until I realized that we do the same thing all of the time with sports teams. The Yankees is World Series Champion?

It is much more natural feeling with teams to me, perhaps because "there's no 'I' in 'TEAM'". Sports have always focused on the "operation as a team", not individual, aspect of existence.
But I will digress from my 'peevology', only to say I may forever find it awkward when single firms are referred to in plural form. That will just be my style. |
