June 10th, 2002, 10:53 PM #22As a fighter, stick a fork in 'em, Tyson is done.
Follow the money trail, if you want to understand what happened here.
The reason it didn't, as I mentioned earlier, is that Tyson is (still) invulnerable. The guy doesn't feel pain, and does not tire. This guy is the most terrifying thing the ring has ever seen. I am saying he STILL IS.
There is no beating him. You put this guy in a ring, and he just murders whoever is pitted against him. No suspense.
But suspense is what makes people buy tickets (as in, "who will win the fight?").
"Hmmmm," say the promoters. "Nobody is buying tickets. I think we better have a talk with this hunk of cheese...."
I'm saying that this "talk" happened. I am saying that Tyson threw the fight. I am saying that professional boxing follows the wishes of the Dollar. Call me cynical, but I do believe that when everything comes to pass, you will see that this is true.
It is finally......about the $$$$. This ain't no sport, it's a business!

I'm with ya all the way on this one Knothead...a few buddies of mine and I discussed this earlier today. It's totally about the $$$. Professional boxing is as practiced at professional wrestling...the winner is decided BEFORE the match, not AFTER.

I totally agree with you about boxing being a business not a sport, and what not.
But about Tyson, did you even see this fight? I have a feeling you didn't. Tyson's not smart enough to throw a fight convincingly. And that one inch deep cut over his eye, I guess that's just stage make-up?
Wake up dude. Tyson couldn't beat Hollyfield years ago. And you think he's just as good or better now??? I think you've been using a little too much wood glue lately...get some air.
If there was still money to be made with Tyson then Don King would've took him back. He didn't. He told Tyson to hit the road. I'll bet you anything that he ends up in jail before he ends up back in the rink of a major bout.
Face it. He is a wash-up loser...and a POS. He's always been a POS but at least when he was young he could knock out anyone. Now he's just a POS.
And I gotta tell ya, for someone who is invulnerable he sure loses a hell of a lot of fights.
