Anybody play the Horn ?? (The French Horn )
My Grand Daughter, who is in the eight grade and has played the Cornet for a few years was selected for the All State band. Subsequently, since the high school band will be losing one of their Horn players in June, she has been selected to learn this new instrument.
Any words of advice or links would be gladly welcomed.
She just beginning and is doing scales now....

I started on Cornet in 5th grade and went to Baritone in 7th or 8th grade. I picked up trombone, Tuba, Clarinet, and saxophone, by the time I was a senior. Baritone stayed my primary until I dropped music all together at the academy.
From Cornet to French horn isn't that hard, but practice makes perfect.

Well, yous guys are NO help !!!
Anywho, the great thing about this latest development is that the instrument will be provided and we all will not have to spend $3000.00 for a professional grade cornet.
Plus, she will be tutored ,twice each week, by a member of the city orchestra at no cost.
Another advantage is that the "Horn" , which ,I'm told, is a more difficult instrument to work, gives her a better chance for a scholarship for college and ,eventually, to get a good working position.
I cannot express who proud I am at her accomplishment !!!!
